Itinerary

Welcome to Egypt! When you land at Cairo International Airport, your tour manager will be there to meet you, help with your entry visa and guide you smoothly through arrivals. You'll then travel to your hotel in a private air-conditioned vehicle with free Wi-Fi on board. After checking in, your tour manager will run through the itinerary with you and confirm all your pick-up times, so everything's clear from the start. The rest of the day is yours to relax and settle in.

Stay: Your hotel in Cairo

Important Notes: Entry visa fees are payable locally; your tour manager will assist with the process on arrival

After breakfast, you'll dive straight into ancient Egypt with your private Egyptologist guide. First stop is the Giza Plateau, home to the Great Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren and Mykerinus — the last of the ancient world's seven wonders still standing. Nearby you'll see the Great Sphinx and the Valley Temple. After lunch at a local restaurant, you'll visit the Grand Egyptian Museum, the largest museum in the world devoted to a single civilisation, where you can admire treasures from across Egyptian history, including the complete collection from King Tutankhamun's tomb. Afterwards, you'll return to your hotel.

Stay: Your hotel in Cairo

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Included Visits: Great Pyramids of Giza, Great Sphinx, Valley Temple, Grand Egyptian Museum

Important Notes: Expect warm weather and walking on uneven, sandy ground at Giza, plus a fair amount of walking in the museum. Comfortable shoes, a hat and sunscreen are recommended

After breakfast, you'll transfer to Cairo Airport for your short flight to Luxor, often called the world's greatest open-air museum. On arrival you'll be met and taken straight to the East Bank. You'll explore the vast Karnak Temple Complex, dedicated to the god Amun and one of the largest religious sites ever built, then the elegant Luxor Temple, once linked to Karnak by the ancient Avenue of Sphinxes. After lunch at a local restaurant, you'll check into your Luxor hotel and enjoy some time to relax.

Stay: Your hotel in Luxor

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Included Visits: Karnak Temple, Luxor Temple

Important Notes: The temple grounds are large and open, with plenty of walking in warm sun

After breakfast, you'll cross to Luxor's West Bank. You'll visit the legendary Valley of the Kings, where the pharaohs' tombs were cut deep into the desert hills, followed by the striking terraced Temple of Queen Hatshepsut and the giant Colossi of Memnon. After lunch, you'll board your elegant Dahabiya — a traditional sailing boat — to begin your Nile journey. As you set off towards Esna, you'll settle into the calm, unhurried pace of Upper Egypt's rural riverbanks.

Stay: Dahabiya (sailing boat)

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Included Visits: Valley of the Kings, Temple of Hatshepsut, Colossi of Memnon

Important Notes: The West Bank is hot and open, with uneven ground and steps into some tombs. Light clothing, a hat and sturdy shoes are recommended

Enjoy breakfast on board as you sail to El Kab, one of Egypt's oldest settlements. Here you'll explore ancient tombs and temple ruins carved into the hillside before continuing gently along the Nile towards Edfu. After lunch on board, you'll visit the beautifully preserved Temple of Horus at Edfu — dedicated to the falcon-headed god and one of the finest temples from the Greco-Roman period. You'll then return to your Dahabiya and carry on sailing.

Stay: Dahabiya (sailing boat)

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Included Visits: El Kab, Temple of Horus (Edfu)

Important Notes: Some walking on uneven ground at the sites; comfortable footwear is a good idea

After breakfast on board, you'll stop at Gebel El Silsila, the ancient sandstone quarry that supplied the stone for many of Egypt's great temples. You'll explore its rock-cut chapels — including the speos of Horemheb — and ancient inscriptions, set against dramatic scenery along the Nile. Back on board, you'll enjoy lunch as you sail on peacefully towards Kom Ombo, taking in the relaxed rhythm and pretty views along the riverbanks.

Stay: Dahabiya (sailing boat)

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Included Visits: Gebel El Silsila, Speos (rock-cut temple) of Horemheb

Important Notes: Uneven, rocky ground at the quarry; sturdy shoes recommended.

After breakfast on board, you'll visit the unusual Temple of Kom Ombo, set right on the banks of the Nile. It's dedicated to two gods — Sobek the crocodile god and Horus the Elder — and you'll see its mirror-image halls, detailed carvings and even ancient medical instruments etched into the walls. Back on board, you'll continue sailing towards the charming city of Aswan, with lunch and dinner served as the scenery drifts by.

Stay: Dahabiya (sailing boat)

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Included Visits: Kom Ombo Temple

Important Notes: A relaxed day with time to enjoy sailing between visits

After breakfast on board, you'll disembark from your Dahabiya in Aswan. From there, you'll drive to Abu Simbel to see the magnificent temples of Ramses II and Queen Nefertari — famously moved to higher ground during a huge UNESCO rescue project. Take in the colossal statues and remarkable carvings before returning to Aswan, where you'll check into your hotel and enjoy the evening at leisure.

Stay: Your hotel in Aswan

Meals: Breakfast

Included Visits: Abu Simbel Temples

Important Notes: The drive to Abu Simbel is long, so it’s an early and full day. Sites are open and warm; bring water, a hat and sunscreen

After breakfast, you'll visit the beautiful Temple of Philae, dedicated to the goddess Isis and set on its own island, reached by a short motorboat ride. You'll then see the impressive Aswan High Dam, one of Egypt's most important modern engineering feats. Afterwards, you'll transfer to Aswan Airport for your flight back to Cairo, where you'll be met and taken to your hotel.

If you'd like to see more, optional tours can be arranged on request.

Stay: Your hotel in Cairo

Meals: Breakfast

Optional Experiences: Additional Cairo tours available on request

Important Notes: A relaxed free day to enjoy at your own pace

After breakfast, you'll be transferred to Cairo International Airport for your flight home. Your tour manager will help you with the departure formalities and wave you off after an unforgettable journey through the timeless wonders of Egypt.

Meals: Breakfast

Important Notes: Please allow enough time for airport check-in and departure procedures
