After breakfast at your hotel, begin your Saudi Arabia trip package with a visit to the remarkable archaeological wonders of Madain Saleh, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Also known as Al Hegra, this ancient city was once an important stop along a prosperous trade route. Covering an expansive area of approximately 2,000 square meters, Madain Saleh features remarkable rock-carved tombs and historic remains. During your tour, you will visit several of Hegra’s most important landmarks:
-
Qasr Al-Farid (The Lonely Castle)
One of Hegra’s largest and most recognizable tombs, Qasr Al-Farid stands alone against the desert landscape with its impressive yet unfinished façade.
Your guide will introduce you to the fascinating Nabataean burial traditions and explain how these magnificent tombs were carved directly into the sandstone cliffs. The site also provides excellent photography opportunities, particularly during the early morning or around sunset.
-
Jabal Al-Ahmar (The Red Mountain)
Famous for its distinctive reddish sandstone formations, Jabal Al-Ahmar is home to more than 18 tombs featuring preserved inscriptions and detailed carvings.
These tombs were associated with high-ranking Nabataean families and offer valuable insight into their social hierarchy, traditions, and funerary customs.
-
Jabal Al-Banat (Mountain of the Daughters)
This remarkable group of more than 30 tombs is believed to have belonged to elite Nabataean women, offering an interesting perspective on the role of women within Nabataean society.
The beautifully decorated façades feature Nabataean symbols and Thamudic inscriptions that provide glimpses into the lives and culture of the people who once lived here.
-
Diwan & Jabal Ithlib (The Nabataean Meeting Place)
Jabal Ithlib is a sacred mountain that was once associated with religious ceremonies, gatherings, and rituals. Its famous Diwan, a hall carved into the rock, served as an important political and spiritual meeting place where Nabataean leaders and merchants gathered to discuss trade, governance, and religious matters.
A short walk from the Diwan takes you through a narrow passage resembling Petra’s Siq, which was once used as an important ceremonial route.
During your Madain Saleh tour, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. If time permits, continue to Harrat Uairedh, one of the highest points in the area, offering panoramic views across AlUla’s dramatic landscapes After the viewpoint visit, return to AlUla and your hotel.
Overnight in AlUla.
Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
After breakfast, continue your AlUla journey with visits to the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Dadan and Jabal Ikmah.
Often described as an open-air library, Jabal Ikmah contains one of AlUla’s richest and most diverse collections of ancient inscriptions. Your guide will help you understand the stories and historical significance preserved within these remarkable rock formations.
Continue to Dadan, the ancient capital of both the Dadan and Lihyan kingdoms. Built from stone, this historic city dates from approximately the 9th century BCE to the 8th century BCE, offering a fascinating look into the region’s ancient civilizations.
Admire more than ten tombs carved into the striking crimson-red cliffs, including the famous Lion Tombs. The impressive lion sculptures mark burial sites associated with prominent members of ancient society.
After visiting these mountainous historical sites, continue to AlUla Old Town, where you can experience the area’s heritage while taking a leisurely walk through the lush oasis and local farms. This peaceful setting provides a pleasant contrast to the surrounding desert landscapes.
Afterward, continue to the iconic Elephant Rock, one of AlUla’s most recognizable natural formations. Take time to admire and photograph this extraordinary sandstone landmark before returning to your hotel.

After breakfast, check out and meet your guide in the hotel lobby before beginning your road journey from AlUla to Tabuk. The journey covers approximately 360 km, including a 30-minute stop.
Upon arrival in Tabuk, check in to your hotel and enjoy a quick lunch before heading out for an afternoon excursion to the spectacular Hisma Desert, located approximately one and a half hours from Tabuk. Hisma offers a remarkable variety of desert scenery and a rich cultural heritage. Its mountain landscapes extend toward Wadi Rum in Jordan, with notable formations including Bajdah, Al-Zeitah, Alqan, and Al-Lowz.
Once inhabited by the Nabataeans, the Hisma Desert was also an important route for caravans carrying pilgrims and merchants. Its dramatic sandstone formations create excellent opportunities for photography and scenic exploration.
Continue to Jabal Al Lawz, meaning “Almond Mountain” in Arabic. Rising to 2,549 meters, it is the highest mountain in Tabuk Province and one of the few places in Saudi Arabia where snow can be seen almost every year, making it especially appealing for winter hiking.
According to various scholars, historians, and the Jabal Al Lawz documentary, the mountain also holds significant religious importance. Some theories associate the area with the biblical Mount Sinai and the story of Prophet Moses, based partly on similarities between the landscape and the traditional descriptions of Mount Sinai.
