Itinerary

Memphis Tours Representative will pick you up from Safaga Port by the cruise exit door. After that you will be transferred by a modern air-conditioned vehicle to Luxor, approximately 3 hours far from Safaga. Then proceed to the famous Karnak Temples; the largest place of worship ever built and the greatest example of worship in history. It was constructed from the beginning of the Middle Kingdom to the Greco Roman Kingdom. Within the complex, the great "Hypostyle Hall" is an incredible forest of giant pillars.

Lunch at local restaurant and then you will move into the West Bank of the River Nile to visit the two colossal statues of Amenhotep III (Colossi of Memnon), and then visit the Valley of the Kings, where the magnificent tombs of the ancient kings were discovered, those tombs were curved deep into the desert rock, richly decorated and filled with treasures for the afterlife of the pharaohs. Continue the tour to visit the Hatshepsut Temple at El Deir El Bahary, this impressive temple dedicated to Queen Hatshepsut, the only female pharaoh rises out of the desert plain in a series of terraces and merges with the sheer limestone cliffs that surround it. Before 6 O'clock in the evening, you will be escorted by your guide back to the cruise at port of Safaga Port ( 220km ).

“Highly recommended and very informative”
Simon and Glenda S. Australia , 2/26/14
We appreciated the welcome we received by this company, the driver and the guide. Throughout today we felt very looked after. They made sure we saw everything we wished to view in the valley of the kings and Luxor. Our guide was supremely knowledgable and shared so many extra bits of informatiion which made the experience so much better. We will come back one day and will definately book with this company. We thank all at memphis, best wishes Simon and Glenda S. Australia

Excellent tour guide
Leeh, 12/28/13
We did a 2 person private shore excursion from Alexandria, overnight in Giza with Memphis Tours. We had planned a very ambitious full itinerary for the 2 days and were very happy with the service we received and had thoroughly enjoyed our time there. We would like to recommend our excellent tour guide Emad Selim who is very knowledgeable and who looked after us very well. Our thanks to our skilfull and courteous driver Usama Shehata.

Great Tour and guide
snoopy, 12/24/13
We contacted Memphis tours about a 2 day private tour from Safaga Port to Luxor for 6 of us. We received an immediate response from Bassem Saad detailing the itinerary, cost and the hotel information. Bassem was very good in keeping in touch as we made our plans several months prior to the trip. We submitted a downpayment of 25% and paid the balance once we had arrived at the hotel. It was nice that all our entrance fees were included with this tour, so our guide was purchasing our tickets at the different sites for us. Our tour guide Nadia could not have been better. Her knowledge was very extensive on all the sights we saw, and she was a pleasure to be with. She suggested before dinner we might want to take a sunset tour on the Nile. We jumped at the chance and were not dissapointed. It was beautiful and relazing way to look from the river to all the activity and buildings on the shoreline. We had been to Luxor almost 20 years ago, but Nadia was so informative and attentive, we felt like we were seeing the sights for the first time. We then decided on our arrival in Luxor to attend that evening's performance of the Karnak sound and light show. That was not a problem for her to arrange at the last minute. Both her and the driver had a very long day/evening taking us around and they never made us feel rushed in any way. They were very prompt at picking us up at the port the day of our arrival, and the hotel the following day to continue the rest of our program. We would definately recommend Memphis Tours and hope some day we will be back and can use them again.

“they had all the answers. Very pleased with the trip organised by Memphis Tours.”
Hermes, 8/19/13
I have written to Memphis Tours and thanked them for looking after my wife and I during this Wonderful and Interesting Tour.
I use tripadvisor to spread the word that this company has all that it takes to entertain and inform on things about Luxor and Egyptian history.
Finally, another plus, despite a very late passenger who then had the gall to then get off and take no part in the tour our guide took this problem in his stride, he kept us informed which in turn calmed the frustration felt on the coach as all the other excursions departed. well done him.
We departed from the port of Safaga for our trip...I liked the trip from the port to Luxor, some might not. Beware

“2 Tours, Luxor and Cairo, both excellent, highly recommended.”
Colum, 8/16/13
Came by cruise ship to Egypt. Had booked Memphis Tours for Saffaga (Luxor) and Alexandria-Cairo beforehand on internet. They were excellent on both tours. Either car or small people mover provided and guides and drivers were excellent. Only problem is with Egypt itself, it's a basket case. If I was going again to Egypt, I would absolutely not hesitate to book with Memphis again.
The ship also stopped at Sharm El Sheik. As we were unsure before the cruise what we would do there, we left it too late to book with Memphis and instead booked a tour provided through the ship while on board. What a contrast. Compared to the Memphis tours, it was more expensive, less informative, far less enjoyable and we were herded like cattle onto big buses. That was an error, we should have booked with Memphis.

“Great value and attention”
Erwin Lucy, 8/12/13
Memphis tours gave us all the highlights and was a great value compared to the cruise ship. We were met at the dock so no issue and care taken to return us on time. My 2nd trip to Egypt but this time saw Alexandria and Luxor. Very worthwhile. I am left with a very good feeling toward the country and the people. Am sorry so much political turmoil. Egypt has a place in my heart. Very glad I did the Memphis tours.

A must do for visitors to Luxor
KirstenJR, 7/24/13
Before arriving in Egypt we researched day trips from Safaga port to Luxor and was very pleased we booked with Memphis Tours. We were met off the ship and Yay a group of only 6 with a brilliant guide Alaa and driver. This tour offered us everything and some. We went to all the fabulous attractions Luxor has to offer whilst learning a lot of history from Alaa. We felt incredibly safe with our tour and enjoyed a gorgeous lunch overlooking the river Nile. A very reasonably priced tour (far better than the tours offered through the cruiseline) fabulous attractions and everything ran on time. An awesome experience

Wonderful Tours
jiver jones, 6/22/13
We sailed on a 30 day Cruise aboard the Orina last October/November and two of the stops were Port Said and Safaga. We chose Memphis Tours ( There is a Memphis Street in Port Said)
for day trips to The Pyrimids from Port Said and Luxor and the Valley of the Kings from Safaga. The trip to the Pyrimids included the Cairo Museum and the Tutankamoun Exibition. The Guide Ahmed Farahat and the Driver Sayed Helwan were great company and very knowledable. There was only two of us on the trip (my wife and I) so we had a great day with good food included in a reataurant overlooking the Pyrimids.
The trip to Luxor and the valley of the Kings included the Karnak Temple and entry to three of the tombs in the Valley of the Kings. The guide who's name I have forgotten was very knowledgeable also, I think he had something to do with the Egyptian tourest board.
After the two experiances I would not use anyone else for tours of Egypt.
Prices for the tours included all food and all entry costs.

“One day to Luxor from Safaga (red sea / while on cruise)
Markus, 3/10/13
Roughly 2 weeks ago we did a full day private tour from Safaga (a port by the Red Sea) to Luxor. Details see below:

http://deutsch.memphistours.com/Aegypten/Landausfluege/Safaga-Hafen/Luxor-Thepen-West-und-Karnak-Tempel-ab-Safaga

Guide and driver picked us up from our cruise ship (AIDAblu) from where we had to drive ~3 hours to Luxor. Our guide, Abdelaal Wanan, was very knowledgeable and ensured that we had an amazing time in Luxor.

Starting with the Valley of the Kings (where we saw 3 amazing tombs) and ending with the Luxor temple, we were able to experience a great day full of history.

Even the short stops at a shop for local stone works and a papyrus institute were insightful.

The overall organisation was great and the communication with Memphis Tours easy and straightforward. Happy to book a trip with them again.

“Great tours with Tarek and Eid!”
Sara, 2/8/13
We did two tours with Memphis tours. One from Alexandria to Cairo and another one from Safaga to Luxor. We have nothing but good things to say about our experience :)
Our tour in Cairo - Giza was amazing. Tarek(Tito) was our guide and he was very knowledgeable. He made us feel very safe on our tour, which was very good.
The Luxor tour was also very good. Eid was very good explaining things that were difficult to understand, using people from the group to explain relations and such :)
I would definitely use Memphis tours again when I return to Egypt. Would also like to thank Abdo for all his prompt responses via email, he was great!

“Cairo- crazy,Luxor-lavish”
Erwin Lucy, 2/5/13
Got met at the ship for both sitesAlexandria for Cairo, Safaga for Luxor. Both nearly 3 hrs so got to see the landscape. Fine guides, large crowds at Giza since Sunday. Good to see Egyptian families. Rode a camel, bought jewelry, cards. Help economy. Luxor is magnificent, on par with Petra, different of course. Well preserved. Had good meals at both sites. Luxor much cleaner than Cairo. Very good deal compared to cruise ship excursion. Sadly because of unrest fewer ships will go to Egypt. Sad since overall good people.

“Luxor tour”
Konstantin, 1/30/13
Hello,
We just came back from our Red sea trip with MSC Armonia and I am very happy with everything. One of our stops was Safaga port easy way to Luxor area. I found Memphis tour in tripadvisor and I start emails. We agreed for luxor trip on very nice price and I was expecting a group trip, but no it was a privite car for me and my wife. Great experience from the start. On the way to Luxor out guide Abdul gave us a lesson of history, which I will never forget. I felt how proud is he that he is a son of there great civilisation. Valley of the kings is amazing place and we enjoyed it a lot. Again with great help of Abdul and his historic fact is easy to understand Egypt. What a learned as most interesting fact is that the more years the king is leading the more years people can dig his tomb and make it nice for him and prepare him for afterlife. Totankamun tomb is small because he was just 9 years faraon form 10 to 19 years he died.OK. A stop for lunch in Luxor and Abdul showed us where we can exchange money- it was a bank. Great local restaurant with local food. Then we stoped to Two monuments and head of to Karnak temple. Again great place, it is a mixed tample place. All the kings and faraouns just added more and more things so they can be near the goths. Amon Ra temple is great place to be in, back in the history just the faraon and the head priest was aloud to get in, but now we all can. The driver Magnac was a great man too with great driving skills. We enjoy the local music with him.We have a invoice for this tour which is not happening in Egypt.
So thank you Abdul you are a great man.

“Shore Excursion Port Safaga to Luxor”
Sacha Vollmer , 1/30/13

We have booked with Memphis Tour.
It was very easy to this over the website of Memphis Tours.
I asked for this trip and got an answering email within 10minutes.
All my questions very answered very fast.
The trip was privat and the car was very comfortable.
Our guide Abdelaal Wanan was very nice and he offered us a lot of information about the culture of egypt.
Every question was answered very friendly.
He gave us all the time we needed and made no rush at us.
Also the stop for lunch was very nice.We were overlocking the Nil and the Luxor Temple.
There was also enough time to enjoy a shisha.
The driver Captain Magdad was also a very nice guy.A good driver and he had always a smile on his face.
Abdelaal and Magdad invited us also to have a sugarcane cocktail.
This one was very tasteful:)
If we make again a red sea cruise we will do our excursions again with memphis tours.
They have the tour in German and English!
So why spent much more for this trip when you book on your cruises ship?
Thanks to all and see you again in Egypt!!!

“Excellent, really excellent and nothing but the excellent”
leon z, 1/20/13
Me and my family were guests at Luxor tour in arangement through Memphis tours on 6th of January 2013. We arranged everything via email and everything was exactly like we agreed. Even better.
They came to pick us up on right date and time, exact to minute, by brand new Toyota van.
Professional and very kind driver, very freindly, helpful and knowledgeable guider Aziz. At the first shop he bought a bottled water for us, one bottle for each. Useful. During pleasant journey he explained us everything we asked in very ralistic way.
In Luxor wait for us a lady guider Shaimaa Bahig. She was also positive surprise. She was just gorgeous! She was so careful and loving person, like we were her kids. She show and explain us all the historical miracles of her home town and intesting things of life nowadays.
She arranged us a boat to cross the river Nile, even it wasn't in program, on her charge! as soon as she noticed that we would like it. She even gave us a change for toalette! as we had only higher value banknotes. She also "protect" us from annoying vendors. We are very grateful her!
So, Memphis tours thank you!
Highly recommended!

“Two Excellent Tours”
Amy and Rachel, 1/13/13
My family and I took two separate tours with Memphis tours and they were both excellent. The first was to Luxor, with our tour guide Abdu and driver Maggot. They arrived to pick us up promptly and spent the day giving us an incredibly in depth tour of the Valley of the Kings and the ancient temples. Lunch was provided and we were in a private car which was far superior to any of the mass tours we went on while in Egypt. Both were knowledgeable and committed to making our trip as informative and interesting as possible.

Our second tour with Memphis was to the pyramids in Cairo. Our tour guide this time was Emad Salem, who was also excellent. His tour of the Egyptian museum was fascinating, his passion for the material and extensive knowledge of Egyptian history was clear. Again we were treated to a private mini bus, and lunch was provided. Emad was able to adapt the tour for our needs and we thoroughly enjoyed our day with them both. Our driver was incredibly experienced and an excellent driver.

All round I would highly recommend Memphis, the quality of the tours, the personalised service were top class, and both our guides made us feel incredibly safe and welcome in Egypt.

“Tour to Karnak, the Nile, Luxor”
, 10/26/12
We were on the Pacific Princess World Cruise this year. We made arrangements with Mokhtar for an all day tour from our port at Safaga. He was prompt in picking us up, and we had a wonderful time seeing much of rural Egypt and learning about his country. His English was excellent, and he did not hesitate to answer any and all questions. The time in Luxor/Karnak was fantastic - we saw so much. Lunch along the Nile was delicious. If you are stopping at Safaga, don't hesitate to book with Memphis Tours!

“An absolutely wonderful experience”
Ann, 7/10/12
We booked tours of Cairo, Alexandria, and Luxor with Memphis Tours. Our first 2 tours to cairo and Alexandria were only 6 to 8 people and were conducted by Shahinaz Medany, who was friendly, personable, and extremely knowledgeable. We couldn't have chosen a better guide. Our 3rd tour was a coach tour and while we preferred the smaller tours, this one too was pleasurable. Memphis Tours was professional, responsive and made sure we saw all the sights. The restaurants they chose for us were great especially the Sonesta St. George Hotel in Luxor. There was always water available and the cars and coachs were air conditioned. Tickets to the attractions were included. We were particularly pleased with our tour of the Egyptian Museum.. Many of the Museum tours were cancelled because of demonstrations in Tahir Square, but after calling ahead to insure our safety, Memphis Tours took us to the Museum. The result was that we had almost a private tour and really got to see all the treasures up close and personal. We would recommend Memphis Tours unconditionally. Take the private tours if possible but if necessary don't hesitate to take a coach tour. Thank you Memphis Tours for making our visit to Egypt so memorable.

Day Tours in Egypt from Safaga and AlexandriaG
Graham, 7/2/12
We selected 2 x 1 Day tours with Memphis Tours at our ports of call Safaga and Alexandria on 13 and 17 June respectively while travelling on the Sun Princess 2012 World Cruise. Initial contact was with Mohammed Sakr who handled all queries and our bookings in an efficient and prompt manner. On arrival at both ports we were met promptly by Memphis staff at both ports.
Our tour guides Sayed Selim (for Valley of Kings, Luxor, Karnak Temples, etc) and Ahmed Farahat (for Pyramids, Sphinx and Egyptian Museum) were both very knowledgeable of the places visited.
The venues for both lunches on the Nile were great and the food and views were excellent. The tour costs were reasonable and the guides along with the drivers made sure we had a great time. I would have no hesitation in recommending Memphis Tours if you are travelling in Egypt.

Fanastic day trips
tanny, 6/14/11

14 of us disembarked the Oceania Nautica on May 1st into the welcoming van of Memphis Tours for our tour to Luxor. We overnighted in Luxor, had a wonderful Egyptologist (John), saw all the sights, including Luxor Temple, Karnak Temple, Colossi of Memnon and had a felucca ride. The next day was the Valley of the Kings, and Queen Hashepsut's Temple. Everything was perfect in all respects and we felt very safe. Marwa Samir, our contact at Memphis, was so very professional in all my dealings and was very easy to get along with. You could not have a better experience than with Memphis Tours and I recommend them very highly. Arlene

“Memphis Tours ... a professional organization.”
Eyedoc, 1/13/11
We just returned from a Red Sea Cruise. Rather that use the cruise company's excursions, we booked 3 excursions through Memphis Tours, using Mr. Mohamed Sakr as our representative, he was professional in every aspect and delivered exactly what was agreed upon. He responded to my questions and concerns in a timely and efficient manner. The transportation and guides were superb, on time and courteous. I would have absolutely no reservations recommending Memphis Tours and Mr. Sakr for any shore excursion. S. Jankowski USA

“Superb Relaxed Trip with Excellent Hosts at a Great Price”
LP29, 12/31/10
We really wanted to go to Luxor but didn't want to be part of the crowd with a fixed tour through the tour operator. We searched for tours on the internet and found Memphis Tours.
One of the reasons we chose Memphis was because they offered the Karnak Temples as well as the Valley of the Kings as part of their tour.
Mohammed's communication was excellent, both polite and very helpful to our needs, all given in a very timely manner.
We had a personal guide who showed and educated us on all of the temples and tombs - he was brilliant!
Our driver was great too considering that he picked us up at 5.00am and drove us around until 9pm - all with a smile.
The personal service that Memphis gave us was exceptional, and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone wishing to tour Egypt's amazing tombs and temples.
Thank you Mohammad for your kindness when I was ill and for arranging a fantastic experience.

Vabulous Time Had by Entire Group
Rich5SanFrancisco, 5/21/10
My wife and I took a large group ( full tour bus) from our two ports of call in Safaga ( for LUXOR) and Port Said (for CAIRO & environs) Each day trip was a full day, and returned to our ship ON TIME without any issues. -- We traveled all day in comfort with well informed driver and guide; both were courteous and friendly and looked out for our group at all times. In Luxor, we had lunch at a local waterfront restaurant and took a Feluca ride on the Nile; We had extremely limited time, and Memphis Tours did not waste any of it; they were early to pick us up at the ship's side, and we did not miss a thing. FANTASTIC !! Will use them next year when we tour Egypt again.

“Excellent shore excursions with Memphis Tours”
Mensovw, 3/28/10
We booked a cruise with Costa in February 2010 with Aqaba in Jordan as one of the destinations. As soon as we were able to book the tours via Costa we found out that the excursion to Petra was sold out. This was the reason for us to search the internet for an other option to get there. Memphis was quickly found via google. Within a few hours after my request Hamdy Emery (tour consultant) replied with a tour initerary.
Beacuse of the prompt reply and professionalism we decided to book all the shore excursions in Egypt and Jordan with Memphis instead of Costa. Good choice! The tours we did:

1) Day trip to Pyramids & Citadel from Port Said
2) Day trip to St. Catherine Monastery from Sharm el Sheikh
3) Day trip to Petra from Aqaba (Jordan)
4) Day trip to Luxor from Safaga

Please note that the above tours are almost the same price as the cruiseline will charge you but you will get a lot more value! A private air-conditioned van, driver, guide and Egyptologist just for your party.
For all cruise passengers I can certainly recommend Memphis Tours for the shore excursions in Egypt and Jordan!

Thanks goes out to Hamdy and all guides involved!

“Exactly as promised, and flexible per our request!”
stew4united2, 2/7/10
We used Memphis for private tours during a cruise from Barcelona to Dubai. We had no trouble booking online and having questions answered quickly via email. The private tours were tailored to our requirements and EVERY staff member we encountered was pleasant and helpful. The transportation was via clean and modern vans and the tour guides spoke clear English. The cost of our tours was less than the group tours from the cruise line and we had the guide all to ourselves! Memphis offers a range of options for any budget, and we worked with them to create a tour that met our needs. We plan to use Memphis again when we take a Nile cruise in a couple years. During this past cruise, we booked a full day tour of Cairo leaving from the port of Alexandria and a full day Luxor tour leaving from the port of Safaga. We can't speak highly enough of our experience with Memphis. As Americans, we encourage other visitors from the US to use Memphis with confidence.
