Argentina's northwest is a place of extraordinary colour, and this eight-day journey takes you through the best of it. Base yourself in Salta, then wind south through the Quebrada de las Conchas — 83 kilometres of rock sculpted into amphitheatres, obelisks, and devil's throats — to the vineyards of Cafayate, where Torrontés and Malbec are poured straight from the source. Climb the Cuesta del Obispo into a national park of towering cacti to reach the colonial cobblestones of Cachi. Stand beneath Purmamarca's Hill of Seven Colours, cross the high Puna to the blinding white Salinas Grandes salt flats, and follow the UNESCO-listed Quebrada de Humahuaca through Tilcara, Uquía, and Humahuaca. The finale is pure gaucho country: a ride through the hills of Finca Lesser, a three-course regional lunch with wine, and live folk music. With handpicked hotels, private transfers, and local assistance throughout, this is the north as it deserves to be seen — slowly, and in full colour.

Head south through the Lerma Valley and into the spectacular Quebrada de las Conchas — 83 kilometres of rock sculpted by wind and water, including the Amphitheater, the Devil's Throat, the Obelisk, and the Tres Cruces viewpoint. As the first vineyards appear, stop at a winery for a tasting of Salta's famous Torrontés and Malbec, followed by lunch. The afternoon is yours to discover Cafayate.

Overnight in Salta.
Optional (not included): Hot-Air Balloon Flight — Drift in silence above the hills and valleys, with a glass of sparkling wine on landing.

Meals: Breakfast

One of the region's most jaw-dropping drives: up the winding Cuesta del Obispo, through the cactus-studded Los Cardones National Park, and along the arrow-straight Recta del Tin Tin. Arrive in Cachi, a postcard town of cobblestone streets, adobe houses, a lovely church, and an archaeological museum. Then back to Salta.
Overnight in Salta.

Meals: Breakfast

Off to Purmamarca, home to the unforgettable Hill of Seven Colours. Wander the craft stalls and little streets, then climb the dramatic Cuesta de Lipán to the vast Salinas Grandes — 21,000 hectares of dazzling white salt flats. Overnight in Purmamarca.

Meals: Breakfast

Start the day with a visit to the Quebrada de Humahuaca, a UNESCO World Heritage valley of colourful hills, colonial chapels, and warm-hearted people. Stop in Tilcara, Huacalera, Uquía, and Humahuaca before returning to Salta. Overnight in Salta.

Just minutes from the city, saddle up for a two-hour ride through hills, rivers, and forests to panoramic views over the Lerma Valley. Afterwards, a three-course regional lunch with wine tasting and live folk music.

Alternative (not included): Gastronomic Experience — Shop the San Miguel Market, then cook a traditional dish with a Salta chef and share the feast.
