Begin your 7-day Namibia tour with a two-night fly-in stay in the Namib Desert, the oldest desert on Earth, which has remained arid for around 15 million years. While seasonal rivers occasionally flow through this ancient landscape, they leave behind valuable underground water reserves, revealing that the desert's apparent dryness is more complex than it seems.
On arrival in Windhoek, you will be welcomed by an NTS representative, who will provide your travel documents before introducing you to your pilot for check-in and a flight briefing. From there, board a 1-hour and 10-minute private charter flight to Sossusvlei. During the flight, enjoy spectacular aerial views of the Namib Naukluft Mountain Range and the endless sea of rolling red sand dunes below.
After landing, set out on a guided excursion through Sossusvlei, the largest of the area's four clay pans, surrounded by towering star-shaped dunes. Pause for a picnic lunch among the dunes, accompanied by local beverages, before continuing your exploration of this extraordinary desert landscape. Nearby lies the iconic Dead Vlei, an ancient clay pan that was once filled with life but has remained dry for nearly 900 years after shifting dunes blocked its water source.
Your desert adventure also includes visits to some of Namibia's most famous landmarks. Climb or admire Dune 45, which rises 170 metres high and is estimated to be 5 million years old. Although it is neither the tallest nor the oldest dune in the region, it remains one of the country's most iconic sights. Other highlights include Big Daddy, Elim Dune, and Sesriem Canyon, each offering a unique perspective on the remarkable Namib Desert.
The desert is at its most spectacular during sunrise and sunset, when changing light transforms the dunes into vibrant shades of gold, orange, and red, making these the ideal times for exploration, particularly during the hot summer months. Your stay also includes a scenic sundowner drive, where you can watch the sun sink below the horizon across vast plains and towering dunes. With two nights in this unforgettable destination, you'll have ample time to appreciate the desert's peaceful beauty and experience one of the darkest, clearest night skies on Earth.
Note: Scheduled camp activities are included (details available on request).
Your journey continues to the extraordinary Skeleton Coast, a place that appears serene from above, with gentle Atlantic waves meeting endless sand dunes. Once on the ground, however, you'll discover a dramatically different landscape where the harsh desert collides with the icy Atlantic Ocean, creating one of Namibia's most remote and unforgiving environments. Covering more than 6,500 square miles, Skeleton Coast National Park is renowned for its ancient clay formations, haunting shipwrecks, and thriving seal colonies.
Travel by private charter flight from Sossusvlei, enjoying spectacular aerial views of the vast dunes before flying over abandoned diamond mines and the remains of historic shipwrecks en route to Swakopmund. After landing, you can either continue your journey following a brief refuelling stop or spend some time exploring Swakopmund's charming streets, palm-lined promenades, and cafés before carrying on to your lodge.
Approximately 90 minutes later, you'll arrive at Mowe Bay, where a scenic transfer takes you through the dramatic landscapes of Skeleton Coast National Park to your lodge, surrounded by pristine wilderness.
During your stay, experience the rugged beauty of the Skeleton Coast on a guided game drive. Discover bleached whale bones, rusting shipwrecks, and dry riverbeds that tell the story of nature's resilience in this harsh environment. The contrast between the stark desert scenery and the Atlantic coastline creates a landscape that is both haunting and breathtaking.
Your experience also includes relaxing sundowner drives and scenic beach walks along the remote coastline. Continuing the region's shipwreck theme, you'll visit the haunting remains of the Suiderkus and Karimona wrecks. The Suiderkus, in particular, met its tragic end after running aground on its maiden voyage during the 1970s.
Another highlight is an exciting 4x4 excursion to the Hoanib River Delta, home to remarkable ancient "clay castles" that have formed over tens of thousands of years. Along the way, you'll visit the famous seal colony, first recorded by the German ship Mowe in 1884. A drive along the Hoarusib River also offers the opportunity to track desert-adapted elephants and, with a little luck, spot the occasional giraffe.
Note: All scheduled camp activities are included and led by experienced lodge guides.
After unforgettable encounters with desert-adapted elephants, and perhaps even the elusive desert lions and hyenas, your adventure continues to the world-famous Etosha National Park.
Your journey begins with a transfer to the airstrip for a 1.5-hour charter flight from Mowe Bay to Ondangwa. Following a brief refuelling stop, you'll take a short 30-minute flight to the eastern side of Etosha. From there, a scenic drive will bring you to your luxury safari lodge, where you can unwind before experiencing some of the finest wildlife viewing in Africa.
Known as the "Great White Place," Etosha is famous for its vast mineral pan that dominates the landscape. Covering more than 20,000 square kilometres, the park offers exceptional wildlife viewing. Rather than searching extensively for animals, visitors can simply wait at one of the many waterholes, where lions, elephants, rhinos, cheetahs, wildebeest, leopards, and countless other species gather to drink, creating remarkable safari sightings throughout the day.
During your stay, park entrance fees, all meals, and local branded beverages are included. You'll enjoy expertly guided morning and afternoon game drives, as well as daily sundowner excursions on the surrounding private reserves.
Note: All game drives are included and conducted by experienced lodge guides in open safari vehicles.
Your unforgettable 7 day Namibia tour comes to an end today after one final morning safari activity. Following breakfast, you'll be transferred to the airstrip to board your private charter flight from Etosha to Windhoek International Airport, enjoying one last aerial view of Namibia's spectacular landscapes.
For a smooth and stress-free departure, we recommend arriving at the airport at least 2 hours before your scheduled international flight. As your journey concludes, you'll leave with lasting memories of Namibia's breathtaking deserts, dramatic coastlines, and extraordinary wildlife.
