DELHI: The Moderna capital of India is also a very ancient city whose origins are lost in legend. Hundreds of monuments adorn it, with its carved and millenary history. From this city numerous Hindu and Muslim dynasties, including the Mughals, ruled India. No less than 7 successive cities existed here before the arrival of the British, who would create, by the hand of Sir Edwin Lutyens, their dream capital.
Breakfast. At about 09:00 hours, our representative will be waiting for you in the hotel lounge to introduce you to your accompanying guide and the driver. We will start the visit with a photo stop at the Red Fort, Chandni Chowk is located nearby, in times imperial avenue that Shah Jahan liked to ride, and from there we will go to Jama Masjid, one of the largest mosques in India, built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in the seventeenth century.
Next, we will visit Gandhi's tomb and drive through the New Delhi area to see the India Gate, the Presidential Palace and the parliament. Then we will go to visit the temple of the Sikh religion and we will sit for about 10 minutes in the prayer hall to observe the visitors and listen to the prayer.
In the afternoon, a visit to the New Delhi will allow us to discover the Qutab Minar (XII century), gracefully fluted and completely carved by hand on its shaft; nearby is the Iron Column, which has impassively attended to the misfortunes of Time and is not even rusty, after 1500 years of history.
Return to the hotel. Dinner and accommodation.
Breakfast. In the morning, departure by road to Jaipur.
Jaipur: The pink city of Rajasthan. Jaipur is perhaps one of the most picturesque cities in the world. It was built according to the canons of the Shilpa Shastra, the ancient Hindu treatise on architecture. Divided into seven rectangular sectors, with well-laid streets, right angles, its planning is a marvel of eighteenth-century urbanism, when not even in Europe there was a similar systematization. Surrounded by steep hills at three of its heart points, the city is guarded by a powerful fortified wall, with seven gates.
In the afternoon, panoramic tour of the city of Jaipur, where in addition to an orientation tour of the pink city its bazaars, you will be able to contemplate the Albert Hall (Palace built by the Maharaja of Jaipur to commemorate the visit of King George of England), today converted into a museum, then we will visit the Birla temple of the Hindu religion. Dinner and accommodation.
Breakfast. We will drive through the residential and business areas of the "pink city", passing in front of the Hawa Mahal (Palace of the Winds), one of the most well-known monuments of Jaipur. We will go to Amber Fort, the former state capital until 1728. A unique experience: we will climb on the backs of elephants to access the top of the hill on which the fort stands.
Then, sightseeing tour of Jaipur (which takes its name from Maharajah Jai Singh, prince and astronomer, who designed and founded the city in 1727). We will get to know the astronomical observatory that the monarch himself built, equipped with instruments designed by himself, of considerable size, and whose precision is difficult to match even today. We will also visit the Maharaja's Palace, former royal residence and nowadays museum of manuscripts, Rajput and Mughal paintings and weapons.
Dinner and accommodation.
Breakfast. Departure to Ranthambore National Park (closed from July 1 to September 30), famous for its Tigers. Ranthambhore National Park is one of the best examples of the Tiger Project in Rajasthan. The forests around the Ranthambore Fort were the hunting ground of the Maharajas of Jaipur. The desire to preserve tigers in India made this Park to be protected. Lunch at the hotel.
The Ranthambore Park has an area of 392 km2, is surrounded by two rivers, the Chambal and the Banas, and includes 6 artificial lakes. The park is home to 300 types of trees, 50 aquatic plants, 272 species of birds, 12 different reptiles and 30 mammals. In addition to tigers and leopards, wild boars, crocodiles, monkeys, gazelles, and monitor lizards can be observed.
At about 15:30, in addition to the local fauna, in the park we will visit the Ranthambore Fort*, a World Heritage Site, a construction of the tenth century that was used to control the entire central area of India. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Early in the morning, we will make the first safari in Ranthambore National Park to see the flora and fauna of this area. If we are lucky we can see the Bengal tiger, it is a park where there are more chances to see the tiger. In the eastern part of the state of Rajasthan, in the northern part of India, there is the Ranthambore National Park. This park was formerly the hunting area of the Maharajas of Jaipur, but it has been turned into a paradise for wildlife lovers. Among all the fauna and flora of Ranthambore Park, what attracts tourists the most is the possibility of seeing tigers and leopards in the wild. Return to the hotel and breakfast.
After lunch, we will make another safari to explore the park again in search of the tiger. Lunch, dinner and overnight in hotel.
Breakfast. Then departure to Agra visiting Fatehpur Sikri en route.
FATEHPUR SIKRI: Just over 40 kms from Agra is the dead city of Fatehpur Sikri, built by Emperor Akbar in 1569 and abandoned due to his inability to provide it with a water supply. The buildings of the city are incredibly preserved, notably the Jama Masjid Mosque, the tomb of Salim Chisti, the Panch Mahal and other places.
Arrival in Agra. Check in at the hotel.
In the afternoon, we will visit the Agra Fort, on the banks of the Yamuna River, in the heart of the city. It reflects the Indian architecture under three Mughal emperors: Akbar, Jehangir and Shah Jahan. Within the complex there are some interesting structures, such as the Jehangiri Mahal, the Anguri Bagh, the Khas Mahal and the Moti Masjid Mosque. Dinner and accommodation.
Early in the morning, we will visit the Taj Mahal, one of the most important monuments in the world, the Taj Mahal, a hymn to love built by Emperor Shah Jehan in 1630 to serve as the mausoleum of his queen, Mumtaj Mahal. This architectural wonder is a proportioned masterpiece, entirely erected in white marble. Artisans coming from Persia, the Ottoman Empire, France and Italy took, helped by 20,000 workers, 17 years to complete it (ATTENTION: THE TAJ MAHAL CLOSES ITS DOORS ON FRIDAYS, A MUSLIM HOLIDAY).
Return to the hotel and breakfast. We will rest until 12:00. Then, departure by road to Delhi, arrival and transfer to Delhi Airport to catch the return flight.
