Free day to enjoy the varied options of beaches that the city offers for us. We mainly recommend:
Copacabana: With its 4 km long and its wavy promenade of black and white colors, it is the most famous beach in the city. Located at the same level as the sidewalk, it is suitable for sports and always full of color, music and joy.
Ipanema: It is one of the favorites ones for surfers, besides being a point for diving. In front of it there are the islands of Palmas and Cagarras, where underwater hunting and snorkeling are practiced.
Arpoador: It is the beach that separates Copacabana from Ipanema. With just 500 meters long, its sunrises are visited by tourists and Cariocas who congregate on their sands to witness this wonderful event.
Vermelha: It is the beach at the foot of the Pan de Azúcar hill, one of the quietest beaches in Rio. Due to its qualities, it is preferred by families with children and the elderly.
Barra da Tijuca: It is the longest beach in Rio, 18 km long. Its waters are green and clean, and they surfers’ favorites. They practice windsurfing, kitesurfing and coastal fishing. In addition, spontaneous parties are permanently organized. A perfect beach for the youngest.

Latin America is a very large continent, and there are many areas that are safe to visit. In most parts, tourists need only to exercise the caution that they would have in any vacation spot—pay attention to surroundings, wear a money belt, and avoid dark and deserted areas—to avoid becoming crime victims. The scenarios that involve tourists usually involve non-violent pick-pocketing or muggings. In South America, we recommend not to make it obvious that you’re a tourist. Try to not speak a foreign language out loud. In addition, you should keep valuable items such as your passport, camera, and your wallet in a pocket or bag in front of you. While sitting outside at a restaurant keep your things on your lap or tied to the foot of the chair.
Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Uruguay, Colombia and Mexico: Spanish speakers.
Brazil: Portuguese
You will find most of the workers in tourism speak English and at least a third language.
Tipping is essentially a norm in bars, coffee shops, and restaurants. It’s recommended to tip chauffeurs and guides during transfers and paid excursions. In these cases, we suggest calculating the amount according to how satisfied you have been with the service.
