The Best Way to Experience Egypt
, 7/15/13
We arrived in Alexandria June 10th by cruise ship and instead of the RCCL tour, thinking we might not be this way again, we wanted the efficiency and flexibility of a private guide and car. We booked two days with Memphis Tours that were perfect, and for not much more money. Before we left home, we had worked out an itinerary that we had chosen emphasizing that we wanted no shopping, etc.. Our guide, Amany Salem met us holding her sign at 7am. She was fantastic - so knowledgable and passionate. She gave us a tour of the Egyptian Museum in Cairo before we visited the Pyramids and she took us to lunch at a lovely local outdoor restaurant all the while giving us background on their social/political life. We arranged for a night at Mena House, an excellent hotel that overlooked the Pyramids. The next morning Amany and our helpful driver picked us up at the hotel and took us to the Alexandria Library for a tour and a walk on the waterfront before returning to the ship.
After another day at sea we were met by our other excellent Memphis Tours guide, Noble, for a long, fun day at Luxor that included the Valley of the Kings, a short Nile boat ride, etc. before returning to the ship. We could have booked a Memphis Tour in Petra also but didn't realize how perfect they would be so we went with Jordanian company that wasn't bad, but if we had it to do again we'd stick with Memphis Tours. They were terrific.
“Wonderful Experience”
, 10/31/12
My girlfriend and I arrived to the port of Alexandria on our cruise tour. We stayed there for 2 days. Our tour guide, Emad Seleem and our driver, Al askary were more than accommodating. After all of the discussions about Egypt safety issues and else, our stay there was spectacular with no unpleasant moments at all. The whole stay was filled with great surprises. Emad and Al Askary picked us up in Alexandria ( 3 hours from Cairo) in a private car with air conditioning and water. On the way, Emad started by teaching us about the history of Egypt. After 3 hours we learned more that

any book could have :) Upon arrival we went directly to the pyramids, which were an experience of its own (do not leave without riding a Camel). After that we went to eat to a buffet restaurant chosen by the tour agency. The food was not great but not bad either and was included o the price so no complains there. Then we calling the day and went directly to the hotel.

It was a 5 star hotel. It was amazing with views to the pyramids. I couldn't believe that for the tour price they would have included such an exquisite hotel. Definitely a surprise. Our suite was huge and with beautiful garden views and the staff extremely helpful. It also included a free buffet breakfast that pretty much had it all you could expect with lots of traditional Egyptian food.

The next day we did the museum, some city landmarks and lots of shopping. The whole experience was perfect. The combination of great tour guide, excellent driver with our own private car, the food, the place, the landmarks and the people made it happen.

A special thanks to Emad, who not only is a tour guide but also a Egyptologist and Psychologist. He made it all happen. Made our stay safe and fun with a twist of the unexpected. We totally recommend Memphis tours and highly recommend Emad Saleem.
Professional, knowledgeable, very attentive

Well, our experience with your organization and staff went well without any difficulties. I have appreciated your very prompt responses to all my questions. I also want to inform you that we were entirely pleased with Mahmoud, and also with Hussein. Both were always attentive, pleasant, and professional. The buses and van used were most comfortable, and were safely driven by very competent drivers. Over all, I would not hesitate to recommend Memphis Tours, and will contact you again when we do another trip to the Holy Land.
