Cairo & Nile Cruise
, 4/30/22

This Easter we finally managed my dream holiday, visiting Cairo & taking a cruise down the River Nile; a treat for my 60th birthday. Memphis Tours sorted our itinerary & made it perfect for us.
From the minute we were picked up from the airport, till the end of our holiday, everything went like clockwork.

From the first email it was clear that the Memphis staff member, Yosri, was not only willing but eager to plan the best possible trip for my husband and I. Our tour not only completely suited us but utterly thrilled us. And at a very reasonable price. From the moment we landed in Cairo a Memphis staff member was there making sure that we had a wonderful time. Each of the guides we had was extremely knowledgeable, imparting his knowledge in an informative and engaging manner, helping us to get a real sense of the wonder we were seeing. Unfortunately a death in the family at home forced us to cut our trip short, again Memphis showed their worth, their consideration and assistance in organising our rushed trip home was exceptional. We look forward to booking our return trip to Egypt through Memphis Tours, in fact I wouldn't use any other tour company.

“If you are thinking about Egypt... think about hiring Memphis Tours!”
, 12/1/13

My daughter and I were traveling on our own in October with a stop in Egypt. With the recent unrest and the chaos of a city of 22 million, we were uncertain about figuring this one out by ourselves. We wanted to maximize our sites and had only a short period of time so, after doing some research we solicited Memphis Tours. They were beyond amazing! They took such good care of us starting pre-trip and including every plane, train, automobile, hotel, tour, and town. Every pickup and drop-off was on time and professional and we were never left on our own which helped us feel safe. They shared so much good information; about visas, dressing respectfully, avoiding tourist scams, current affairs, and of course the history at each site! The rather overwhelming Egyptian Museum would have been just that if not for Mohmen who brought it to life for us. Memphis even made the impossible happen for us by changing our itinerary last minute during a busy holiday weekend. I can’t recommend them enough!

8 days in Egypt and Memphis Tours the Best
, 11/10/13
A year ago, a few friends and I planned for a different kind of holiday. We wanted to go on a-so-called more adventurous trip. I recommended Egypt. I had visited Egypt back in 2009 and fell in love with the country and its long history. It was only this year in March 2013, we finally all agreed to set a date. In the meantime, I was surveying for good and reliable local tour agents and was recommended by a relative to check out Memphis Tours. I contacted them and was responded most efficiently by Mrs Fatima. She promptly quoted the cost of a customised itinerary plus a 3 night nile cruise on Sonesta Moon Goddess.

Anyhow, July revolt came and we had already paid 50%, A few got a bit jittery. Fatima assured me that we could cancel. But I convinced my travel companions to wait-n-see. So we did. By September, all my travel companions agreed that we can proceed with the plan, well except for one. October came, we finalised our air-tix. We got into Cairo end of October. Visited Giza and Sakkara with an experienced egyptologist guide - Mr. Mahmoud. Mahmoud took me to visit the El-Fishawi cafe at Khan Khalili Bazaar, a place where Naguib Mahfouz wrote parts of his prize-winning Cairo Trilogy.

In Aswan and Luxor, we met the ever so passionate egyptologist Mohamed Emam. He guided us through the history of each Temples like he lived through it. M.Emam, you are awesome! The cruise was great and an incident at the Esna lock, will always be "locked" in my memory.

The services of Memphis Tours went beyond, when I left my travel bag in the van which transported us from Luxor to Aswan. Only to realise it an hour later. A quick call to Rouby, the tour manager in Luxor, pacified me that the bag shall be sent the next day. Rouby delivered it personally to me just before my flight back to Cairo. Thank you so much Rouby. Last but not least, our appreciation and thanks to Friday who took us to the Nubian Village and guided us through the magnificent monument of Ramses II at Abu Simbel.

In summary, I hope all the travel bans will be lifted so that Luxor and Aswan will come back to life as they should be. I wish all of you at Memphis Tours, all the best.

“A Memorable trip”
, 8/13/13

With some apprehension our family of five chose Egypt for tour in January 2013. Our research indicated Memphis Tours would be best and we obviously made the right decision. Right from the initial stages of planning to the completion of the trip everything went exactly according to plan. The support provided by Memphis in every aspect was just superb. All the personnel we dealt with were extremely helpful and very friendly. We had a memorable time. We have already recommended to friends and family to visit Egypt - Just contact Ms Marwa Aziz and all will be arranged.

“Now is the time to visit Egypt (with Memphis Tours)”
, 12/19/12
Everything is normal in Egypt. Despite what you may have heard or seen in the news, Egypt is not burning down. I just returned from a week-long trip to there and there were no riots, etc.. I was in Cairo during their referendum on Dec. 15, 2012, and the Egyptian men and women were lined up at the polling stations peacefully. I even went by Tahrir Square and nothing was out of the ordinary. The most dangerous part of the trip was the Cairo traffic and the touts.

In fact, with so many tourists avoiding the country because of the negative perceptions, the major sites were uncrowded. I even got to see the King Tut treasures up close without having to elbow someone out of the way. From Aswan to the Valley of the Kings to the Karnak Temples, the crowds were minimal, leaving the visitor more time and space to appreciate thousands of years of history. So, I say go now, and avoid the crowds.

I went with Memphis Tours and was very happy with the quality of the guides and organization. You can, of course, travel independently or with another group, but I chose Memphis Tours because they were an established tour operator, the tour schedule fit well with my vacation schedule, and the price was right.

Marwa Aziz was very helpful in arranging and customizing the tour for me online. However, as someone mentioned earlier on Trip Advisor, there is no hourly breakdown of the itinerary, so you cannot see the slack in the schedule. Fortunately for me, this was minimal and most of it was while sitting on the cruise ship; I just took advantage of the time to relax.

There was one issue with the schedule that I should point out. I spent three nights on the Nile cruise, followed by a night train to Cairo, followed by two nights in Cairo. After we checked out of the boat in the morning, and before we were driven to the railway station at night (in Luxor), we were given two options: stay on the boat (for a cost of $25, including lunch) or stay for a few hours at a two star hotel in Luxor (for $10). We were required to choose one or the other. It was not a big deal, but I just thought I should mention it.

During the time after we disembarked and before the train ride, we were free to do whatever we pleased; some people even took an optional tour at this time. This was not mentioned anywhere and I wish I had known about this; I did get to visit the small, but worthwhile Luxor Museum, though.

As with any tour, there never seems to be enough time spent at places like the Egyptian Museum. If I go back, I would schedule a free day on my own just to re-visit the museum and the Community of the Religious.

I had two guides: Ahmed El Prince and Mohammed Ritchie. I apologize if I misspelled the names. Ahmed was a very knowledgeable and attentive guide. Not only that, but he even gave us tips on how not to get scammed by some unscrupulous locals. Ahmed was a real trooper guiding us even with his bad back. He kept us on schedule and entertained from Aswan to Luxor.

My guide in Cairo, was Mohammed Ritchie and my driver was Ossama. I was driven from Giza to Cairo to Sakkara and Memphis. Ritchie was very friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive and I am very glad that someone like Ossama was at the wheel in the chaos that is Cairo traffic.

Memphis Tours also sent people to meet us at the airport and train stations. I should mention that I was on my own while checking in, filling out the customs forms and getting an entry visa, etc.. Not a big deal; just follow the signs. (Entry visas are sold by the same guys who change money.)

My accommodations on the boat and the Grand Pyramids hotel in Giza were better than expected, though the location of the Grand Pyramids hotel was a little dodgy. Both locations had pools, in case you needed them. There was free WiFi in the Grand Pyramids hotel, but it was only available in the lobby and it was really slow (and I mean really slow). You could also pay for WiFi on the boat, but it was expensive and slow. Surprisingly, the WiFi connection at the two-star hotel was quicker; that was worth the $10 in itself. That's just as well, I was on vacation, after all.

Also, the entertainment on the boat at night was minimal. We had one night involving a belly dancing show and it wasn't that good.

Generally, I was very pleased with Memphis Tours and would recommend them to anyone. Aside from the touts hassling us at every turn and that guy with the camel at the Grand Pyramids hotel who scammed me out of five bucks and the guy who offered to take my picture in one of the tombs and them demanded that I give him two bucks, I had an enjoyable time in Egypt and I look forward to returning some day.

“Memphis Tours-Egypt”
, 10/29/12
Chris and I recently booked an 8 day tour of Egypt with Memphis tours. Fatima Sayed responded to our booking request within 24 hours of our first e-mail. She was incredibly helpful throughout the entire booking process and even followed up with an e-mail after our trip ended. She was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions in a very timely manner!

Chris and I arrived in Egypt at different times. Memphis was very accommodating and for a small fee we were each met at the gate at our respective times. Ahmed Badawi met each of us outside the gate and helped us get our visa on arrival, exchange money and exit through passport control. With his help the process was very efficient and stress free. We were then taken by private car to our hotel and at the end of our trip returned to the airport when it was time for us to depart..

In Cairo/Giza we stayed at Mena house and were very happy with the accommodations. They gave us excellent service and we had a nice, clean room on the ground floor with a view of the pyramids. The gift shops near the lobby of the hotel had nice cartouches at affordable prices! The Alyssa cruise ship was our next stop and it was wonderful as well. The rooms were clean, the food was good, and the sun deck was lovely. Spending time in one of the cabanas on the deck was very relaxing and the curtains provided shade from the sun and a little privacy. The views were beautiful and it was nice to see the daily life of those who live along the Nile. I would highly recommend staying both at Mena house and the Alyssa cruise ship.

On our trip we had a number of tour guides while traveling and each of them was excellent. All were very knowledgeable and we felt safe at all times during our trip. The tour guides that we worked with were Ahmed, Yessar, and Hend. Each of them was extremely professional as well as knowledgeable. I would recommend requesting a tour with any of them!

This is my first guided tour and I was so impressed. I booked it on line with Eman Rashad who was so helpful. She responded immediately to any queries I had about our Egyptian tour in Giza and the Nile. We were met at the hotel by our rep Mohamed who took us through customs and to our hotel. We were given a mobile to call him about any problems that we may have had or to book any additional tours. Our guide in Giza, Emad was so friendly and knowledgeable. Our driver, Osama, made us laugh all the time, he needed to as the traffic in Giza was mayhem to say the least. Our tour up the Nile was near perfect with Alaa, our guide, making it even more enjoyable. If this is what guided tours are all about then I will certainly take another. I would strongly recommend this company and the guides to take you around Egypt.

Memphis Tours rocks! I recently booked a 11 day 10 night tour to Egypt and it was life changing. I arrived at the airport were my representative was waiting with a sign. He booked me in through customs, vsia, and passport check-ins making a very smooth transtion. The tour staff was courtesous and kind and was more than willing to accommodate any request I had during my trip. The tour guides were very knowledgable, the drivers were absolutley awesome, and when my luagge was lost upon arriving into Cario the Memphis tour representative worked endlessly and recovered my belongings. I saw other people on tours and the quality of the guides/trip was no way in comparison with Memphis Tours. The service was so good it was hard to say good-bye to them because I considered them family even after only knowing them for a few days. Prior to booking I did alot of research on tour companies a whole lot to make sure I got the best service for the best price and boy did I ever. Let me tell anyone reading this........for the price, flexibilty, honesty, commiment to excellence, and safety Memphis tours is by far the best....dont believe me do the research for yourself!.

Pyramids and Nile cruise
, 6/20/12
We recently got back from a tour of Egypt. It was a 10 day tour and we basically included a one day tour of the pyramids and a 5 day cruise from Luxor to Aswan. We did the one day tour and the cruise through Memphis Tours. I think they are one of the best tour operators in Egypt. The quality of service was exceptional.

The representatives met us at the airports and railway stations right on time and the guides were really professional and very knowledgeable. The first guide we had for the one day tour of the Pyramids was very professional and kept the vendors at bay. Our representative in Luxor was Ruby and the representative in Aswan was Mustafa.

Sayed Selim, the guide we had for the tours from the Cruise boat from 23 April till 26/27 April was exceptional. His knowledge of the Egyptian history, the culture, politics and lifestyle was current and too good. We got an excellent insight into the Egyptian lifestyle and culture from him. Overall it was a wonderful experience we had with Memphis. Will recommend Memphis and Sayed Selim to anyone.

We also got a free hotel upgrade in Hurghada which is nice. Our tour operator Mohamed Sakr has been very helpful in answering questions and giving us the right itinerary to suit our needs and budget.

Memphis Tours Egypt ensured that we had the trip of a lifetime
, 3/6/12
We were a bit of nervous prior visiting Egypt, but our tensions were quickly eased with the first meeting with our Memphis Tour Representative, Hamada Roshdi. He met us at the airport, helped us get settled in at our hotel, discussed our itinerary and even advocated for us at the Egypt Air when our flights had been unexpectedly changed. Hamada suggested additional tours and called to check in with us as we moved a crossed the country. He was our rock.

Our time in Cairo was pretty good. Our guide was very knowledgeable about all of the history and sites that she took up to. She engage my nephew's interest in Egyptian Mythology and was very patient with 4 year old niece. I was very disappointed that we were not taken to Khan el-Khalli- the largest souk/market in the country. This concerned me because she took up to 2 demonstration shops and not the but ran out of time for the market. When we mentioned this to Hamada, he was displeased and ensured that we would visit the following day.

I have mixed feelings about Alexandria. It seemed as though the suggested places that we asked to visit were ignored by her... as if there was a lack of understanding but we did learn a lot and enjoyed talking to her.

Our time in the Nile region was excellent! We loved being on the Alyssa Floating Hotel! Everything was great... the food, the crew, the rooms, the other passengers! I would recommend this craft to all other Memphis Tour travelers. The 3 day cruise was my favorite part of my 10 days in Egypt.

It helped that we had a great Egyptologist! Alaa Elsawy was AWESOME! As smart as he is cool! He was able to manage an older American couple, a scarf-a-holic Nubian queen, a 20 year old Egyptian Mythology enthusiast, the mother and an energetic 4 year old! He help us all to have a better understanding of the mind boggling 4000+ years of Egyptian history... from temple to temple and valley to valley-- taking time to just stop and hang out in the Nubian Village or a tea house while we shopped for more treasures! What I really appreciated is the dedication to scholarship. Simply Superb!

I have come back to the states telling all of my friend/family- that if you plan on going to Egypt go with Memphis Tours!

Great service from the office and staff, mixed bag of service providers
, 3/5/12
We prefer to travel independently and very seldom use travel agents but soon realised that the only viable way to book a Nile cruise is by using one. Memphis is a large organisation and despite the suspiciously high number of one-review wonders on their Tripadvisor entry we went ahead and booked the cruise with them.

Their own staff, from first office contact via e-mail to the last hotel drop-off, were excellent. E-mails were answered promptly and the itinerary offered was exactly what we asked for with no hard sell of additional services. The Memphis staff who met us in Aswan and Luxor, both eager and friendly young guys with capable drivers in clean, new cars, were great. Egyptair changed our flight schedule at the last minute so we arrived at Aswan airport an hour earlier than scheduled but after one phone call to the Memphis office our pick-up arrived in under 10 minutes.

The boat they booked us on was certainly one of the nicer ones we saw and the balloon tour in Luxor was excellent, we were the first one up that morning and one of the last to land. The itinerary we booked was adhered to exactly and we got everything we paid for.

The tour guide that they assigned to us for the trip, however, was less spectacular. Although the pleasant Memphis staff all assured us he was “the best” we found him quite disinterested in guiding us, only reluctantly tearing his attention away from his mobile phone when we asked questions. The routine at each site was a brief lecture on arrival before he retired to the tea room while we showed ourselves around. This attitude got worse after each stop at a Perfume “museum” or Alabaster “factory” where we patiently listened to the sales pitch before declining to purchase anything.

If you need to use a travel agent for your Egypt visit I can recommend Memphis; with a big company like this the service providers allocated to you are bound to be a bit of a lucky dip. I was encouraged to review them on Tripadvisor as it seems the staff are evaluated by the reviews they receive here. This could explain the huge number of people who join just to review Memphis tours which was my main concern when selecting them but all went well in the end. Maged, thank-you, you get 5 starts but the company as a whole gets just 4 for the dodgy guide we had for our 3-day cruise.

Worry free with Memphis tours
, 3/1/12
I started working with Memphis about 2 1/2 years ago to arrange this trip. They have continued to work with me through a revolution, riots and strikes. Through all of this Abdo Younis and the rest of the staff have done a supreme job to cater to all our wants and to make sure that this trip is worry free and completely enjoyable. From the moment we touched down in cairo Hussein was walking up the runway to get our bags and to get us through customs. From Musty in Aswam,Emad in Luxor, Ahmed in Sharm they have been superb. I don't know how they could have done more. Every tour they plan, hotel and guide has been excellent. Their motto should be, "No problem."

Don't dare miss Aswan and Luxor with Alaa Elsaway
, 3/1/12
My family and I just returned from Egypt on February 27. Words cannot detail the amazing time we had there. My sister, nephew, four year old daughter and I are forever changed by this trip. This was in large part due to our guide Alaa Elsaway. He showed us all the hidden gems to be found in Aswan an Luxor. He made the Nile River cruise fascinating by giving us a history lesson that only a Griot could tell. His knowledge of the sites, Karnak, Edfu and Luxor temple was spellbinding. I was wondering how so much knowledge could fit in one head. He is also great with kids. When we were picked up by a Memphis Tours van at our next stop, my daughter screamed with joy, Alaa. Apparently, she recognized how awesome he was too.

Egypt is my dream country and I always want to go there. This year, I am planning to spend my holidays in Egypt as my Birthday present from my husband in this March. Pre-travel arrangements-Mr Mohamed Sakr is the best
, 2/23/12
I have always wanted to go to Egypt. Few years back we looked at some trips and the prices were simply out of our reach. On one gloomy November day I was serfing the internet looking for ideas for our winter vacations and by chance I found Memphis tours. I could not believe the prices and I sent an e-mail with an inquiry. With in an hour we had our dream itinerary emailed to us followed by a phone call from Mr Sakr, and so it began....
We were set to go, we were just looking for the best flight to get to Egyp, and then the protests started in Tahir Square again. The media reporting violence and many deaths and injuries. We got "cold feet" I emailed Mr Sakr with my concerns. He very quickly responded, advised us of the situation, explained that all the violence is confined to this one spo,t and assured us that we will be safe. He also advised us that we can take our time deciding. He never pushed for us to committ. We waited til the elections were over and decided we were going to go. I emailed Mr Sakr again changed the dates and he very quickly changed the itinerary to accomodate us. While searching for the best way to get there I found a stop over in Jordan , figured why not see Petra while we are there, emailed Mr Sakr to see if it could be arranged , sure enough it could be, we got the itinerary for this extra excursion right away. Then we decided to fly Air France instead. We booked our trip finally. You would think that that was it, well we found out about the Mena House , we wanted to stay there , once again, all it took was an email to Mr Sakr and it was done.
The reason I went into details like that is to show how professional, patient, knowlegable Memphis Tours is, and Mr Sakr deserves a medal. I wasn't the easiest customer, I would have given up on me long time ago. Even my husband finally said to leave the "poor guy alone" We are very excited to visit Egypt and if the tour just as good as the pre travel arrangements, it looks like it is going to be a trip of a life time. Trip that I don't think would have happened if it wasn't for our wonderful tour coordinator, who put our fears to rest and was very patient during this long process. (I don't think the guy ever sleeps, with the time difference between Egypt and Canada most of our communications happened at 3 am Egypt time) And so we are off.

Memphis Tours surpassed high expectations
, 2/20/12
I read dozens of reviews and decided on Memphis Tours. I was really excited about my choice and to be honest, it was several times better than I even expected. We decided to arrive a day early to adjust for the eight hour time shift. This was only $50 more so I would suggest this as the days are full and intense. We also chose the 5-star hotel. I cannot say if this was worth it without seeing the other hotel but I can tell you that the Le Meridien Pyramid hotel was exceptionally nice and after one nervous expeditions, I would have to say that we felt comfortable walking down the street at three in the morning. This is quite possible, since the entire city seems to operate 24 hours a day. Unfortunately, the social scenes were quite empty because of the drop in tourism due to the revolution.

From the time we were picked up from the airport, Osama made us feel like great friends and made sure that every expectation of our trip was fulfilled. He works so hard and gets very little sleep because he loves his job so much and it really shows with how much you feel at home. Speaking to him during the hour and a half crazy ride to the hotel we realized that we were in for the trip of a lifetime.

On the second night we decided to try the "sound and light show" on our free day. This seemed very dated and dull but it was not regrettable so I will leave you to decide on this excursion for yourself.

On the first day of our tour in Giza the Egyptian Museum was closed for the anniversary of the revolution. This was something we wanted to see so we were able to reschedule this for the last day with no problems. On this morning we met Mahtii (sp?). So, it was us, Mahtti and our driver Osama (a different Osama). They both were so friendly and we danced and sang to Osama's music while driving around the pyramids. This made it to Facebook. Anyway, Mahtti, an Egyptologist, took us all around Giza, the pyramids, the Sphinx, Memphis and another city with a local lunch. For an entire day he personally taught us about every aspect of what we were looking at and walking through. It was an unbelievable experience.

The following day Osama the director, took us to the airport and walked us in to assure we made it without problems for our flight to Luxor. We had bottles of liquor in our suitcases which someone X-raying said was a problem but let us keep it anyway. More on this later. We flew to Luxor and were met conveniently at the airport and were taken to our cruise ship, the Jaz Minerva. Here we met Alaa, our private Egyptologist that had his own room on the ship and he was just there to guide us and teach us and only us. The first thing we discussed was the optional excursions that cost money. If you have been on a cruise out of the U.S. you know that these are expensive and generally make the trip suck because you feel that they are constantly just trying to get money out of you, this proved nothing like that. Let me tell you, we went on an amazing hot air balloon ride for just $95! There were several other balloons and we seemed to have the best pilot so I am not sure if your experience would be as great as ours but we went way up and then way low to graze the grasses in between trees. My friend and I are both professional pilots so flying is nothing to us but this was possibly the highlight of the trip. Definitely do this! Before the cruise we went out with Alaa to the Temple of Luxor / Karnak. This is such an amazing place and they are still digging up parts of it. Alaa made this even more interesting than it was naturally, if that is possible. Our cruise ship for the next several days had amazing service and food. Over the following six days we became very good friends with everyone working on the boat. When we got to Aswan we decided to take a three hour police convoy down near the border of Sudan to see the amazing Abu Simbel temple. This is such an amazing place and so difficult to describe that you should just Wikipedia it and then do it. The highlights were: the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple, Abu Simbel and the Unfinished Obelisk. The last one may bore some people but we really wish we had more time at it. We both really appreciated seeing how all of this stuff we had been looking at was made. I bought an expensive statue at a store we stopped at that was supposed to be made out of a really strong stone. This statue was wrapped up very well and kept very safe until I got home but when I unwrapped it, part of it was fractured and the entire thing was ruined and I was very sad. If I had to pick a highlight of the trip it would definitely be getting to spend the week with our now good friend Alaa who taught us so much and hung out with us every night. We hope he will come visit one of us in the U.S. some time.

After flying back to Cairo, we me up again with Mahtti to go to the Egyptian Museum that was now opened. The King Tut exhibit is amazing and especially so after learning so much about him for the whole vacation. Speaking of that, the entire ten days with the Egyptologists, the theme of everything was that of Ramses II being the greatest and most influential ancient king. In the museum you have the opportunity to pay a bit to see the mummies of the Kings. Definitely do this, he is in there along with Hatshepsut! She was lost until recently identified.

Overall, I cannot say how happy we were with our decision to try out Egypt, even in these times. I have traveled quite extensively around the world and I can honestly say that the Egyptians are the friendliest people I have come across. If I could give any advice, other than to go with Memphis Tours, would be to specifically request Osama, Mahtti and Alaa. They are the reason you should choose this tour company.

A wonderful experience, a big thank you to Alaa Elsawy, Tamer Ghallab, Rania Yahia and all Memphis' staff!!!
, 2/18/12
I just got back from my 9 days of fun and enjoyable trip in Egypt. The pre-travel plan was handled professionally and promptly by Maged Al Gohary. All queries were answered promptly and I highly recommend Mr Maged!!!

Upon arrival at the Cairo Airport, we were greeted by Mr Tamer Ghallab tour representative from Memphis tour. He checked us in at the hotel and explained all the itinerary, he was extremely friendly, helpful and fun. He also sent and fecthed us to and from the train station to ensure that we have an enjoyable and safest trip. He went to the extend to search for an Iphone micro-sim card for me... Thanks Tamer!

The following day we started our sightseeing around Cairo and Giza. Our tour guide for the day was Ms Rania Yahia and we were given with a personal vehicle too. We went to Egyptian Museum and The Pyramids and Spinx in Giza. Rania was so much fun and she really knew what we wanted to see and do throughout our sightseeing! We really enjoyed every moment of our tour in Cairo/Giza with her.

We took the sleeper train to Luxor...well it was 11 hour journey. We were so exhausted that we didn't find any difficulty to sleep in the train! Mr Yahia, representative from Memphis fetched us from Luxor train station and checked us in the Cruise ship. The river nile cruise was fun yet relaxing... you can see the most beautiful sights along the river nile...it was breathtaking!!!

In Luxor and Aswan, we had a fun and passionate tourguide of all, Mr Alaa Elsawy. He's extremley knowledgeable and had a good sense of humor. We really were very impressed with the knowledge and passion of Mr Alaa Elsawy. He provided us with details and good insight of all ancient Egyptian history and always made us feel comfortable, pleasureable and fun througout the trip. I must say that Mr Alaa had remarkably amazing knowledge about Egyptian history and culture!!! He'll answer all questions you have in mind in full details!!! Very impressive!!!

The whole 9 days were filled with fun and memorable experiences. The food was good in both hotel and the nile cruise. Oh yes, don't forget to catch the hot air balloon ride in Luxor and make that trip to Abu Simbel! It's worth every penny. We felt that we were really pampered by Memphis Tours. I will definitely recommend Memphis Tours to my friends and relatives....and definitely engage Memphis Tours when I return to Egypt!!! Thank you again to all Memphis staff and special thanks to Mr Alaa Elsawy, Mr Tamer Ghallab, Ms Rania Yahia and Mr Maged Algohary... you guys ROCK!!! Big Time!!! :)

We had a fantastic holiday far ahead of our expectations, thanks to this
real quality conscious tour operator. We wanted to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary and so booked a 8 day whirlwind private tour to absorb as much as we can of this great country with stopovers in Cairo, Aswan and Luxor. The tour guides Amany in Cairo (whom we particularly recommend) and Nasser in Aswan/Luxor were walking Egyptian history encyclopaedias’ making for a very lively interactive experience. Our overall tour guide Hussien also was very meticulous and particular in ensuring our comfort every step of the way. The vehicles and hotels selected for us (Mena House Oberoi both times) and cruise boat (Sabena, Jamila) too were top notch. The shopping arranged for us – perfume, papyrus and carpets was also quality. In all cannot recommend Memphis tours high enough. Lastly do not miss the hot air balooning option in Luxor – getting up at 5:00 a.m. was worth it many times over for the breathtaking sunrise over the Arabian desert.

A wonderful and memorable trip...all thanks to Memphis Tours
, 2/13/12
I visited Egypt from 3rd Feb 2012 to 12 Feb 2012 . I am a sort of person who hated guided tours and have till date always traveled with my family planning trips on our own and setting our own pace. But considering the present situation in Egypt and the fact that this time I was traveling solo, I decided to go through a tour company. I had read some reviews about Memphis tours on this site and decided to get in touch with them. From the first time I contacted them, I was made to feel comfortable. Mr Maged Al Gohary was an excellent tour advisor who was prompt to answer my queries and make the itinerary according to my interests. He tailor made my holiday and was wonderfully reassuring.
The trip was wonderful from the word go. I was met at the Cairo airport by Mohammad Abdo who was assigned to me as my guest relations person. I was transferred to the hotel and explained in detail about my trip starting the next day. I was given a mobile phone that was charged enough to make 30 mins worth of local calls. This helped me to keep in touch with Mohammed whenever required. The hotels and the boat I was put up in through out the trip were good std...the food was good..the guides were excellent...here I must mention Ahmed during the cruise and another Ahmed in Cairo and Alexandria. Both were extremely knowledgeable and were ready to answer all my queries untiringly. Imad at Luxor was also great company. Through out the trip I was well looked after and felt really safe. Everything was planned to the last detail and I did not have to worry about anything...made my trip relaxed and thoroughly enjoyable!!!! Thank you memphis tours, Maged, Mohamed, Ahmed and Imad!!!!!!

Amazing trip to Egypt
, 2/10/12
This was my first time to Egypt. I highly recommend Memphis Tours. We were greeted by Osama 1, as he called himself, because the driver's name was also Osama, haha. So we had 1 and 2. Osama 1 was extremely friendly and he was basically our trip manager. He explained to us everything that we needed to know and he even covered some of the culture for us on our amazing 1 hour drive from the airport to the hotel. And the traffic was bad, but don't let that deter you, because experiencing them drive in heavy traffic is something they could easily make a ride out of at disney world. Words simply cannot explain it! There are apparently no rules for driving there. And they are amazing drivers, too. I would not attempt to drive through there if you paid me! Ok so then we were treated like gold by everyone who interacted with us on the tour and throughout the hotels and cruise ships. We had two personal tour guides; one for Cairo and one for Aswan and the cruise up the Nile. Not sure the spelling, but Mahtti was our Cairo guide. He was very friendly and kept us save. He even got me out of a bind with one of the locals when I snapped a photo that I wasn't supposed to take. Then we had Alaa Elsawy as our guide for the cruise and the stops we made along the way. We spent the most time with Alaa. He was extremely friendly and very passionate about his work; he definitely made the trip worth while. Thanks Alaa!

Egypt is Amazing!!!
, 2/8/12
Mohamed Sakr was our tour operator who assisted us with planning process for this trip of a lifetime. He was professional, friendly, patient and made himself available to answer our numerous questions throughout the entire planning process. Our tour guides Mohamed Abdel Salam and Eid Mohamed Moawed were knowledgeable, professional, friendly and fun making our tours during our trip to Egypt much more pleasurable, memorable and fun. They were both awesome! Houssen Zakaria our tour representative was professional and friendly. He was available throughout our trip by cell phone (provided by Memphis Tours) when we needed further assistance (e.g. making arrangements for a pick up when overnight train arrived 2 hours earlier than scheduled time) Houssen checked in with us from time to time, confirming our accommodations and fulfilling our request to have Mohamed Abdel Salam be our tour guide once again upon our return arrival to Giza. His service made us feel at ease and comfortable during our stay. During our trip we took a Hot Air Balloon ride which was amazing; however there was no sunrise as promised and advertised. We were not aware of flight options as opposed to overnight train ride (Giza to Aswan and Luxor to Giza), which was cold and uncomfortable plus we had an unwanted guest in our cabin (a mouse). Issue was resolved quickly with a cabin change. Some suggestions for your trip bring plenty of snacks with you especially during tours (e.g. trail mix, cereal bars, etc.) you will get hungry. We also did not anticipate on tipping so much during our trip (multiple drivers, tour guides, staff on Nile cruise, included restaurants, restrooms, etc.) So keep that in mind during your planning process. Looking forward to a return trip to Egypt ;0) in the future and booking with Memphis Tours again!

The only way to see Egypt
, 2/8/12
Upon arriving at the Cairo airport we were met by Ahmed, our tour consultant, and Adil, our driver in Cairo -- both very professional, courteous and kind individuals. We highly recommend Adil as a driver -- expert in manuevering the ins-and-outs of busy Cairo traffic in a knowledgeable and safe manner. Ahmed helped with any questions we had concerning our tour and stay -- hotel and local information, the Nile cruise, additional sightseeing options. He was very attentive as to our comfort and even treated us to a delicious, freshly-squeezed sugar cane drink at a local fruit stand while caught in traffic!!!! If we have the pleasure of visting Egypt again, we will be sure to specifically seek out the services of these gentlemen.
Fattoush (Memphis Tours home office) was very accommodating and easy to work with in planning for our Egypt stay. Moustaffa and Ahmed (II) were the personal guides assigned us for the Cairo/Giza and Nile sights, respectively. Both were both extremely knowledgable in presenting and explaining the history of Egypt and its amazing sights/contributions in an entertaining manner.
Thank you, Memphis Tours, for making our trip to Egypt so wonderful and memorable

Memphis Tours is Awesome!
, 2/5/12
We contacted Memphis Tours after seeing the good reviews on
Tripadvisor. We arranged our 10 day/9 night trip via email with our
personal tour consultant, Abdo Younis. This process went very
smoothly, even with our changes and questions, and we were
provided a detailed day by day itinerary.

We were greeted at the airport by our Cairo coordinator, Hamada Amir.
Hamada escorted us to our hotel , got us checked in, gave us a cell
phone for the duration of our trip, and went over the next day’s
itinerary. Hamada or his counterparts, Mustafa in Aswan, and Ahmed in Luxor were always there to greet us and make sure we made it to our next destination.

Memphis had everything covered, we were always met by a trip coordinator, a guide, or both. It was always a Memphis Tours van and driver that took us from place to place when needed. This company really has it’s stuff together.
Also, a word on the guides who actually escort you and explain the history and context of the sites. Our favorite was a young Egyptologist named Mohamed Emam who was our guide for the Aswan to Luxor cruise portion of our trip. Not only is he extremely knowledgeable about these temples and tombs, he has a genuine passion for the subject. He was also a lot of fun.
We had a female tour guide in Alexandria and for the Cairo Museum named Rania Yahia who was also very friendly and knowledgeable.

We rode camels and horses beside the Giza pyramids at dawn, toured the
pyramids inside and out, the sphinx, the step pyramid, Ramses II
statue at Memphis, Abu Simbel, Aswan High Dam, Philae temple, the
Unfinished Obelisk, Valley of the Kings, Temple of Queen Hatshepsut,
Karnak & Luxor temples, Hot Air Balloon Ride in Luxor, Tombs of the Nobles, Alexandria, Qaitbay Citadel, Catacombs, Cairo Museum. We stayed at Le Meridien Pyramids Resort, Movenpick Aswan Hotel, Jaz Minerva Cruise.
If you go to Egypt, make sure you see Abu Simbel. It is worth the 3 1/2 hour ride or you could fly.

Despite the concern of pretty much everyone that we told we were going to Egypt, we never felt the slightest bit insecure the entire time we were there.

The trip exceeded our expectations and I would like to thank Hamada, Mustafa, and Ahmed, along with our drivers (Osama, Saeed, etc) for taking such good care of us.

Memphis Tours and Sayed Selim made our vacation outstanding!!!!!!
, 1/30/12
WOW!!! What an amazing vacation. Thank you Memphis Tours for exceeding our expectations and making our trip exceptional. From start to finish, every detail was meticulously outlined. Even though our arrival time was later than planned, a representative from MT was there to make sure we arrived at the boat safely. In fact, Memphis Tours rearranged our tour schedule so we were able to tour the Luxor and Karnack Temple that night. Special thanks to Sayed Selim. God blessed us when the company assigned such a knowledgeable and professional Egyptologist. He had the task of babysitting three free-spirited females with assertive personalities; one a little more challenging than the others. His expertise in Egyptian history as well as his street smarts aided in dealing with the daily hustle and bustle of trying to see as much as we could.

Pro’s
Magnificent temples and structures. History! History! You’re walking in the same areas as the great queens and kings. King Tut’s Tomb…. The Egyptians do their best to welcome visitors to their land. The accommodations might not be as extravagant as you are used too but they are doing the best they can.

Con’s
Hassling by the merchants. Horrible at times. Listen to your guide and don’t let it spoil your trip. A kind “no” and keep walking is the best advice. Our guide let us know of the best places to buy where you could stop and look without the pressure.

Again special thanks to Memphis Tours and the boat crew. Thank you Abdo Yunnis for responding to my emails in a timely manner and making me feel like I was your only client. Thank you to the ship’s crew. Food was great and so was the service. Sayed Selim, our new Egyptian brother, You ROCK! Everyone keep up the great work and I hope to visit Egypt again very soon.

A salute to memphis tours!
, 1/16/12
Memphis Tours had been recommended to me and my family over two years ago. Tired of waiting for everyone else's schedule to clear up , I decided to make part of the journey to Egypt on my own. I started communicating with Abdelhamid Shawky (Abdo) regarding what sites to visit, cruises, hot air balloon rides, transfers between airports, train stations and cruise ships and finally hotels. I was honest with Abdo stating that this trip was a life-long dream of mine and I didn't know where to start? The pre-planning emails were numerous, to say the least and Abdo was unbelievable. He answered every email and quickly--always the next day or sooner. The reps I met in Cairo ( Mohammed Besheer) and in Luxor ( Emad Lotfy) were fabulous. They made sure I had early check in at the hotels after travelling all night and that each and every hotel room was suitable. I had a problem on the cruise ship I was on , Amarco, ( watch your money and double boat charges) and Memphis Tours actually refunded me the money. The Head of Customer Care , Mr. Gamal El Hadary actually came to my hotel lobby with Abdo to talk about the problems on board the ship . I am so impressed with this company I have posted their link on my facebook and bragged about them to whoever will listen! Thanks to Memphis tours and their efficiency, my trip was a dream come true. I will be returning at the end of 2012 with my daughter and two other families in tow. Thank you Abdo, Mohammed, Emad, Mr. El Hadary, and many others for such great service. Oh and by the way, Egypt is very safe for travelling...single, , solo, or otherwise.

What an amazing experience. Memphis could not have provided better support, Nisreen in Cairo and Mohammed whilst on the cruise were superb. They facilitated everything we needed and would recommend any traveller to Egypt to use them.

The train from Cairo to Luxor was a bit of an experience to say the least, so if you could fly would recommend it.

The Kempinski hotel is amazing and the service impecable so well worth the extra money for the couple of nights we were there and the Jaz Minerva boat was also very good. The team on the Jaz Minerva made us very welcome and the amazing towel art an added bonus we looked forward to each night.

All I had to do was show up
, 6/8/11
I've just returned from an 8 night trip to Egypt, booked through Memphis Tours. Wow. I really can't say anything negative about this trip. My tour leader in Cairo emailed me through Facebook about a week before my trip to let me know he'd be meeting me at the airport. I thought this was a nice touch, putting a face to the name. They adjusted my itinerary to coincide with the train schedule, and added a half day of tours at no charge to me. There was an inconsistency between my booking confirmation and final confirmation, and it was resolved in my favor with no problem at all. I had printed out everything so there was no issue. I changed a couple of things during my trip, again with no problems at all. Someone was always waiting for me when I arrived, either at the airport or train station, and the drivers and tour guides were usually early every morning. They even arranged a room for me for the day on my last day, because I arrived in Cairo at 6am, and didn't leave until 9pm. Again, this was at no additional charge to me.

My tour leader in Cairo, Mimmo, was wonderful. My guide in Cairo, Mustafa, was very well informed and lots of fun. He was my own personal photographer! The driver, Ahm, (not sure about the spelling) was always on time, and had the van nice and cool when my tours were finished.

My guide on the cruise, Ahmed, was fantastic. He was a teacher, and you could tell he was very passionate about sharing his country's history. My group was small, only 3 people, and Ahmed was so great about adding things to our tour. We wanted to add a temple in Luxor, and he fit it in, and we wanted to skip the dam and add another temple in Aswan. He was actually glad to go to the temple instead of the dam, because he hardly ever gets to go there! He also mentioned a tour to a Nubian village that we weren't even aware of, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. The three of us in our group all got a little misty eyed saying goodbye to Ahmed.

Everything went so smoothly. Literally all I had to do was show up. Memphis Tours definitely has it down to a science. I didn't get the cell phone that was mentioned, but since I was always with a guide, I didn't see how I would ever have a need for it. If I ever go back to Egypt, I would not hesitate to book with Memphis again, and can wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone planning to go.

Yes I was taken to a jewelry store, a papyrus shop and an alabaster shop. However, I was not pressured to buy anything (even though I did!), but having done my research ahead of time, I knew the prices were right on, and the quality was exceptional. I was supposed to go to a carpet school, but I told my guide I wasn't interested, so we didn't go, no problem. I even got to help make the cartouches I bought!

I'd also like to add that I never felt anything but safe during my entire visit. I know there are still warnings about traveling to Egypt, but I don't understand why. There were very few tourists, especially in the north, and although the vendors still swarmed, there backed off after a few times saying no. This really is a great time to go to Egypt. Everyone is excited about the prospects of what's to come, although things are grim now. To anyone considering going, please please please go. Tourists are the lifeblood of their economy and they need us now more than ever. I'm so glad I never considered cancelling my trip. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, I'll be happy to answer.

My husband and me had been planning a trip to Egypt for quite a long time.
After researching here and there, we contacted Memphis Tour for some quotes.
We were attended by Mr.Ahmed Shalpy, who was extremelly professional and quick to answer all our doubts.
He proposed a standard itinerary, and when we asked him for some changes (the standard itinerary is for 7 days, and we wanted to extend our trip in some days), he made all the changes, offered more options of hotels (as per our request), everything was excellent.
Unfortunately, a few days after we confirmed our trip and effected the downpayment to secure all the reservations (which included internal flights), the political issue started...We waited a few days more, hoping it would stop quickly, but it didn't...
So we had to cancel the whole trip. Mr.Ahmed Shalpy offered to transfer everything for a future date, but we did not have this flexilbility of dates, so we asked Memphis for a reimbursment.
He explained to us it would take a certain time (the banks were not operating), but after the situation came back to a certain degree of normality, we were informed about the reimbursment by our Credit Card company.
Therefore, due to their profissionalism and good service on this first phrase, we will definetelly use their services in the future, since we are still dreaming about visiting Egypt.

congratulations to Memphis Tours
, 3/12/11
My comments here are written with great emotion and joy, as a result of the recent events in Egypt; but sympathy too for the people who now have to rebuild the devastated economy of their country.

We had arranged the perfect itinerary with the help of Abdo of Memphis Tours in Cairo, starting coincidently on the day the first protest started and scheduled to finish, coincidently, on the day that Mubarak resigned.

At each stage on our journey from Cairo where we were fortunate to see the pyramids and the Egyptian Museum just before it closed, the overnight train to Aswan, to Abu Simbel, felucca sailing, the Nile Cruise, to Luxor, there was always someone to meet us, help us, transport us to our next location, provide all admission tickets, and deliver us to our accommodation.

Mimmo the Cairo co-ordinator, (who gave us a prepaid phone for emergency contact) , met us at Cairo Airport and introduced us to Meleka our Egypt specialist and guide for our scheduled visits. We had the benefit of Ashraf our driver, whose patience and skill enable us to move around Cairo safely and without incident, despite the fearsome reputation of local car drivers. They also guided us away from potential hotspots around the Tahrir Square, where police presence was high. Mimmo also waited with us at Giza station to ensure there were no problems departing on the overnight train to Aswan.

We were met at Aswan by Mohammed Sabri, the local co-ordinator, who passed us on to Fatma the guide and Mahmoud our driver, who were responsible for taking us to Abu Simbel. They then passed us on to Ahmed, who was to be our guide on the Nile Cruise and at the temple stops on the way to Luxor. Unfortunately, due to the rising unrest, the boat was ordered to anchor mid-stream and leave early, so Ahmed missed the boat. Not his fault and our brief meeting was full of useful information about the granite quarries, Philae Temple, High Dam and Lake Nasser.

The staff and food on the Alyssa Nile Cruise were of extraordinary quality and we were saddened to hear that all boats were being recalled to Luxor and we were probably on the last boat, as the mass of tourists evacuated the country.

But Memphis were organized and Ahmed Ahmeen, with driver Abdul, met us at Luxor and did their job perfectly and with good humour. It was obvious they enjoyed being with us. We had the opportunity to visit, the all major monuments of the region, helped by Ahmed’s extraordinary knowledge, without hindrance. We were saddened that, whilst were we able to enjoy exceptional visits without any crowds, there was an absence of visitors. It was going to be a financial disaster for most of the population of the region, dependent on tourism.

As we had missed the stops on our Nile cruise and we had built in a free day for ourselves, we were offered complimentary use of driver and Ahmed for an extra day. He suggested a visit to the Valley of the Artisans and the Habu Temple. They are not the main focus of tourists but, thanks to Ahmed, it was a most stunning opportunity to see some of the lesser known sights. Again, these sites were deserted. With the help of some of the temple guides we were even able to see some parts of the temple that were not normally available for viewing.

Unfortunately, on advice from Memphis Tours, we were not able to undertake our exploration into the desert during the final week of our three week journey in Egypt so we were introduced to another Ahmed, of Memphis Tours, to discuss our options. With his help and that of the driver Yahya, another night was arranged to stay in Luxor. Then, regretfully, we agreed to Ahmed organizing a flight to Cairo and were delivered to Luxor Airport early next morning. This was a sad end to a wonderful experience.

If you are in doubt about travelling to Egypt, contact Memphis Tours. The organization is outstanding. Finally, in view of the recent changes, Egypt is in desperate need of visitors to return and we encourage anyone with an interest in Ancient Egyptian Culture and Monuments, to consider doing so at a very early date. We certainly intend to return to complete our original itinerary.

We enjoyed the history lessons and the great sense of humour of your people
Even the little detours that we took, like sitting at the sidewalk cafe in Giza prior to going to the night show at the pyramids was a great experience.

Excellent company
, 2/9/11
Last year I travelled to Egypt by myself and as I am a single female i didnt want to have to go to all the major sites by myself and was looking for a company that i could make a custom tour with so i could see what i wanted to see. I came across Memphis Tours and with the help of Yosri we arranged a custom tour which was exactly what i was looking for.

When it was time to start my tour i had met up with another couple form Australia and they were wanting to see the same sites as me so i asked my tour guide Mohamad if it was possible for them to tag along. With no trouble at all there were now three of us going on an unforgettable day. Mohamad was very knowledgable and he even chose the best place for our lunch break (the best meal i had my entire time in Egypt).

Thankyou to all the team at Memphis Tours for making our time in Cairo an unfogettable expirence.

My fantasic time in Egypt
, 2/9/11
Fist off our trip was fantastic Egypt was everything and more that we expected.
A big thanks to Hamada, he picked us up from airport with wonderful big smile and nothing was ever to much trouble to organise or change. Also a big thank you to our guide Emad Seleem wow!! the knowledge this man has about his history is amazing. We are two nurses from new Zealand now working in Saudi Arabia, the team from Memphis tours kept us safe, organised daily sightseeing tours with an amazing Egyptologist, used air-conditioned vehicles, Hotels fantastic . Would love to return think one week not enough time.
Next time I would make sure I have tip money, tipping is a concept that is new to me and found I never had enough change, so make sure you have smaller note changed at airport like 20 and 50.
Thanks Menphis

Another Fabulous Adventure With Memphis Tours!
, 1/23/11
I have just returned from my second trip to Egypt, and I loved it just as much as the first time! On our initial visit, we chose Memphis Tours based on their numerous positive reviews and competitive prices. This time we chose them based on our exceptional and unforgettable experience with them the first time around.

Ahmed Shalpy, our tour consultant, was on top of everything, from start to finish. He quickly responded to all of our questions, and readily accommodated any changes we wished to make along the way. He was also more than willing to grant our request to have the same group of representatives as last year - at least for the Cairo and Alexandria portion of our trip. During the Nile cruise, we had different drivers and guides, provided through the cruise ship.

Our tour leader was Hamada Roshdi. Our tour guide was Amany Salem. And our driver was Sayed Anwer.

Hamada was wonderful, greeting us at the airport with his huge, cheerful smile and a bouquet of flowers. He even served as mediator when the airline misplaced the luggage of one member of our group. Throughout our entire stay, Hamada was always VERY friendly, accommodating, charming, and eager to please! I love that no matter what the time of day, or how long his day had been, he always had a great big, adorable smile and wonderful sense of humor! He is very personable, professional, and an enormous asset to Memphis Tours.

Amany, our fabulous tour guide, was very knowledgeable and had a lot of information to impart regarding the numerous places we visited. Even as we drove, she described the various buildings we passed, and pointed out sites of interest. She also allowed plenty of time for taking pictures, which was very important to me! And, knowing that we didn't really desire buffet lunches, she offered up various options for our meals (all of which were excellent choices!). She too was very friendly and open, and always had something positive to say.

Sayed, our driver, also greeted us with a great, big, cheerful smile and a bouquet of flowers! And obviously there are many drivers who can maneuver in, out, and through Cairo's crazy maze of traffic, but both this year and last, there were many times when I was absolutely amazed at his ability to expertly manipulate our van through the hectic streets and "parking lots" of Cairo with ease! I also appreciate that he stopped a few times (without me asking!) so that I could take pictures! And, like Hamada, no matter how long our day had been, he was always smiling and cheerful.

We also had security, provided by the tourism police, Ahmed Alsayed Ahmed. He too was very friendly. I do think, however, we caused him concern when we spread out or lagged behind to take pictures, but he was always very patient!

From the moment we inquired about our trip till the time we passed through airport security to go home, Memphis tours was there to support us and to ensure we had a memorable experience. Hamada, Amany, and Sayed were constantly going out of their way to ensure we were happy and comfortable. They readily adjusted our itinerary to fit in SEVERAL last minute sites, including a visit to Alexandria. They stopped many times to get us snacks (sometimes from places they knew and liked, sometimes from places we had read about and were interest in trying). We had a couple of VERY long days, lasting 12 hours and more; they stayed with us, always smiling and always cheerful!

Memphis Tours even surprised us, providing us with hotel rooms in Aswan so that we could rest between our early morning trip to Abu Simbel and our late night return flight to Cairo!

There is talk of a return trip to Egypt in 2012, at which time we will definitely be contacting Memphis Tours! And, of course, we will once again request the same amazing group of representatives! I miss all of you, and hope to see you again next year!

, 1/1/11
It was our first overseas trip and having very little knowledge about Egypt, we had to completly rely on someone who we had never met or spoke. I must say our tour consultant Mr. Abdo Shawky from Memphos tour really made us at ease and gave us the confident that we are dealing with a professional out fit. Once again Abdo, thank you very much for all your expert advise and planning a wonderful and a memorable trip for me and my family.

I also would like to take this opportunity to thank your following team members who helped us during our stay in Egypt.

Mr. Ahmed - Tour guide in Cairo.
Mr. Ruby - Gropu leader in Aswan & Cairo. Thank you very much for all the help and assistance
Mr. Alaa - Tour guide in Aswan & Luxor

“Memphis Tours Was Fantastic!”
, 12/19/10
My husband and I booked a 3 week trip to Egypt and chose Memphis Tours to co-ordinate our visit. We have travelled extensively all over the world and do not take group tours. Memphis helped us put together our trip, with excellent input from Marwa. She graciously answered our many questions and we were even able to talk with her on Skype. Whenever we wanted to alter our program, she was available and willing to provide suggestions.

Memmo was our contact person throughout the 3 weeks and we cannot praise him highly enough for his cheerful demeanour, willingness to help, always available by cell phone (which Memphis provided for us) and all in all, a fun guy to be with. As our trip involved three different dates into and out of Cairo, Meemo was always there to greet us (along with our Cairo driver Mohammed), no matter what the time of day, the four of us had lots of laughs and it felt like we were travelling with old friends. We were sad to say goodbye to them at the airport.

Besides Cairo, we visited Aswan, Abu Simbel, spent 3 nights on the Nile Dolphin cruise ship, Luxor and the Siwa Oasis. Our trip was amongst the best we have ever taken, and Memphis Tours made everything run like clockwork.

The other guides we used (through Memphis) were also excellent and extremely knowledgeable about the history of Egypt. In particular, we would like to thank Ahmed El Prince who was our guide on the Nile cruise and he was absolutely fantastic, lots of fun and made the stories of the temples come to life. He really knew his stuff.

We highly recommend Memphis and would use them again in an instant.

“thank you Memphis Tours, of all the guides I don't think I've met one who has such a breadth and depth of knowledgeable”
, 11/3/10
My husband and I , After much research, we chose Memphis tours , who had great reviews, even better prices, and who was extremely responsive to all my inquiries. We made the right choice! The tour was the highlight of our trip. During the tour, a Memphis rep called to make sure everything was going well And after, they followed up in e-mail, again seeking to make sure everything was great.

In sum, our tour was amazing and our guide was extremely. I got quotes from many tour companies – Memphis tours had the best price. And the value was great. We saw and did everything we wanted to. We spoke to many others on our Nile cruise ship who either did ship tours or private tours with other companies -- many had bad experiences, not having fun, being gouged for money, It was the total opposite for us, and I have Memphis Tours to thank. Egypt was the highlight of our whole Med trip!

Our guide, Sayed Selim, also deserves commendation. From the very first minute, Sayed Selim made us feel like a welcomed guest. He made sure to go over our itinerary with us, and let us know that this was our tour, so whatever request we had, to please let him know. We spoke with Sayed almost the entire time, about the sites we were going to see, the history behind them, Egypt's current culture, politics, etc, Sayed's own life, and our life back in the U.S. A.

Lastly, Sayed selim was really so great with us. Often times, . Sayed's kept the tour light and funny, but still replete with information, substance and history. He engaged my Husband-- asked him questions and made him feel part of the tour.

here was also quite a bit of variability in the quality of the tour guides. We had excellent guides in Cairo and Luxor / Aswan who were very knowledgeable and had a great command of English. Our guide in Cairo was okay, but our guide Sayed Selim in Luxor /Aswan was extremely & excellent responsive to all my inquiries, Sayed's was a very polite and knowledgeable and intelligent young man who did his best to share about the temples in Luxor. Of all the guides I don't think I've met one who has such a breadth and depth of knowledgeable as Sayed!!!

Overall, though, we had a wonderful time in Egypt. Memphis Tours did an excellent job of organizing the whole thing and ensuring that everything was Okay. Thank you Memphis Tours, thank you Mr. Sayed selim.

The srvice and accomudation on the River boat is top class
It's a recommendable trip, both for families and couples/singles, best is if one like us arrange it private, which gives a private guide

“Memorable trip made possible by Memphis Tours!”
, 9/14/10
I have to admit, usually when I plan a trip my fiance and I will travel without the need of a tour guide. But, in Egypt we felt it would be important to have a guide because there is just so much to learn that without a guide we would miss out on the interesting history of Egypt's past.
Amr our tour manager, is a great guy and lots of fun. He became a friend to us, and led us around old Cairo to cool sites, and found us some unique food to sample along the way.
The one thing we were not crazy about was the location of our hotel (Horizon Pyramids). The hotel itself was very nice, but the area of the city- Giza, was not ideal for walking around in. It was far from the city center of Cairo, but closer to the pyramids. I think we would have preferred to stay closer to the city center in Cairo.
Then when it came time to finally visit the pyramids and the museum, our guide Tarrek was just amazing with the amount of information he provided us on the history.
After a couple days in Cairo, we took the overnight train down to Luxor. We loved Luxor, so much cleaner, quieter, and very beautiful, we wished we had more time there. Our guide Jasmin was another very skilled guide. She actually really helped us out when we realized we severly overpaid for some souvineers, she helped us to get the money back, and was very delightful about handling the entire conundrum. We were both impressed of her professional manner in which she handled that situation. Jasmin took us to the Valley of the Kings.. which I highly reccomend because going inside the tombs there was just mind-blowing when you see the vividness of the colors of the wall paintings that have been there for thousands of years.
Egypt is an amazing place, and I hope that whoever travels there looks into Memphis tours because there really made our trip special.
