“Wonderful and informed guide/driver = great once-in-a-lifetime experience”
Dorsey Carson, 8/4/13
We decided to forego the "cruise excursion" and book with Memphis Tours instead for a day/night in Cairo, from Port Said, and meeting back with the cruise in Alexandria. I cannot say enough good things about our guide, Sherif Shaban Hendy, or driver Nasser; and our experience in general. Sherif has vast knowledge of Egyptian history, and he was so excited to teach us some of it. We felt privileged just to be with somebody so knowledgable about his country and its history. We never felt unsafe, and we were given good advice with sometimes-aggressive vendors at the Giza Pyramids. Our experience was a relatively hassle-free visit; and a large photograph of our family on camels with the Pyramids in the background now hangs in my office. Waking to sunrise over the Pyramids from the Mena House was simply otherworldly. Our "almost 3" year old blonde daughter became the subject of many a photograph by friendly Egyptians. Sharif and Nasser were so good with her. We had the opportunity to meet some other guides along the way who were equally friendly. We travel a lot, and this was easily one of the best experiences of our lives. Pretty strong words for a 24-hour tour, I know.

Wonderful Tours
jiver jones, 6/22/13
We sailed on a 30 day Cruise aboard the Orina last October/November and two of the stops were Port Said and Safaga. We chose Memphis Tours ( There is a Memphis Street in Port Said)
for day trips to The Pyrimids from Port Said and Luxor and the Valley of the Kings from Safaga. The trip to the Pyrimids included the Cairo Museum and the Tutankamoun Exibition. The Guide Ahmed Farahat and the Driver Sayed Helwan were great company and very knowledable. There was only two of us on the trip (my wife and I) so we had a great day with good food included in a reataurant overlooking the Pyrimids.
The trip to Luxor and the valley of the Kings included the Karnak Temple and entry to three of the tombs in the Valley of the Kings. The guide who's name I have forgotten was very knowledgeable also, I think he had something to do with the Egyptian tourest board.
After the two experiances I would not use anyone else for tours of Egypt.
Prices for the tours included all food and all entry costs.

EGYPTIAN HIGHLIGHTS
Alan, 1/3/13
For the tourist who is not brave enough to book into a budget hotel and find their way around with 'Rough Guide' or 'Lonely Planet', but does not want the indignity of being herded around by a guide (however well meaning) on a group tour, Memphis Tours is the answer.
Having a car and driver at one's disposal, as well as the services of a well trained tour guide, means that one's time is used effectively and that there is a degree of flexibility.
Prior to my departure I was in constant email contact with a Mr Shawky who answered all my queries patiently and very effectively. On arrival I was met by a Memphis representive (Maged) who was always just a call away, on the cell phone provided for my use by the company. The Memphis Tours representitive in Luxor was also most pleasant and efficient - and my guide there, Heba El Noby, was great. However, my Guide in Cairo and Alexandria, Hosam Ibrahim Bashandy, was particularly good and did much to make my visit memorable. I covered all the tourist sites that I had hoped to see in this very short introductory trip, with a most helpful commentary ... but experienced so much more, with a relaxed feeling of informality, which gave the experience an added dynamic.
Sadly I do not know the name of my driver ...but his skill in negotiating the traffic in Cairo and Alexandira was awesome!

“The Great Pyramids of Egypt”
Linda A, 10/29/12
I had an opportunity to go on an 11 days Holy land Cruise by Royal Caribbean, Mariner of the Seas on Oct 9-20, shore excursions to Egypt, Israel, Greece and Italy, and the best tour guide by far is Ahmed Farahat of Memphis tours in Egypt. He's a topnotch, go to guy and if I ever visit Egypt again, I will ask for him specifically. He's not only very knowledgeable (walking encyclopedia in fact), but also very respectful, considerate and wherever we go people seem to know, like and respect him. If I have to rate him from 1-10, he's a10+. Our driver, Emad, made us feel safe. He's driving skills is excellent. A big thank you for both of them.

“Well worth your time!”
Shoch Ristie, 10/29/12
We could not have asked for a better day! We left our booking to the last minute and, because we were going on a cruise, did not have internet access. We ended up emailing Memphis and telling them our key priorities for the day and that we would be waiting for them at the port at 7am, though we were not even sure if they got our email when we boarded the ship. Thankfully they were there waiting and the day only got better! There was a lot of flexibility as to where we wanted to go and for how long. We were given freedom to roam but our guide (Mo'men) was also very protective of us amongst some of the locals. Our driver (the specialist) was amazing too...even buying us chocolate and coke! Their willingness to make our day the best it could be was apparent and I highly recommend them for any tour!

Fantastic One-Day Tour of Cairo and Giza
Efan1228, 11/21/11

Mohmed, our guide, and Ahmed, our driver were wonderful from beginning to end. They were waiting for us when our ship pulled into Port Said VERY early in the morning. They whisked us away to Cairo in a private car. Mohmed spent the majority of the ride giving us a detailed description of Egypt's past, present and future; it wasn't merely a memorized speech, but he asked us questions about what we knew and what we were interested in learning. He then gave us a guided tour of the Egyptian museum in Cairo, took us for a fantastic buffet-style lunch, and then to the pyramids at Giza. We felt incredibly safe and well-cared for the entire time. Mohmed and Ahmed were very protective of us - think tour guide and bodyguard in one. I can't recommend Memphis Tours enough.

Memphis Tours is the ideal way to see Egypt
Brett_K_Hughes, 7/9/11

My family of 4, with 2 boys, ages 19 & 11, is back from 3 weeks in the Middle East. Based on the Trip Advisor reviews, I originally contacted Memphis Tours Egypt about private tours for our Pacific Princess cruise stops in Port Said and Alexandria. However, Princess changed the itinerary due to Egypt's revolution, so we decided to do their "Budget Vacation & Nile Cruise by Flight" before the cruise. After making our flight reservations, Princess went back to the original itinerary, so we needed to adjust. We later added a friend that is spending 7 weeks in Alexandria learning Arabic. Through all these changes and a cancelled EgyptAir flight, Ahmed Fayez was patient and thorough. Our Tour Leader, Abd El Fatah Mohamed, met us in Cairo, before passport control, and did an outstanding job in making everything run smoothly. He even picked our friend up in Alexandria so that she could rendezvous with us in Cairo on our way to Memphis from Port Said. Our driver, Zach, would be my nominee for the World's Best Driver. Ayman Elshafie was our Tour Guide. He has a PhD in Archeology, and speaks excellent English. Sayed Selim was our guide for Luxor and our Nile Cruise to Aswan. Another outstanding guide and easily the most popular man in Egypt. We are use to having the best possible guides, and Memphis Tours made that happen in Egypt. I had been to Egypt before, so wasn't concerned about safety. However, I was surprised to have an armed (machine gun) guard provided by the Ministry of the Interior. This is provided for all Americans travelling in groups of 3 or more. We have never felt safer in all our travels. Now is the time to see Egypt, and Memphis Tours Egypt is the ideal way to make it happen.

An Experience of a Lifetime!
Kels_30, 2/10/11
Our excursion was fantastic. Although we got off to a late start (a fault of our own) the tour staff were extremely accommodating, they were friendly & very informative & we all got along very well. We thoroughly enjoyed the traditional Egyptian food at the restaurant near Cairo & most of all found the driving in Egypt to be very interesting. Coming from South Africa we have a reputation for our bad taxi drivers but in Egypt no one seems to mind how one drives which we found quite humorous! We did think we were going to be late catching the ship at the dock but our driver was excellent at manoeuvring through the traffic!

Yosri, who organised the tour for us through Memphis Tours was a great help with every enquiry I had from making the booking to the actual date of the tour.

Vabulous Time Had by Entire Group
Rich5SanFrancisco, 5/21/10
My wife and I took a large group ( full tour bus) from our two ports of call in Safaga ( for LUXOR) and Port Said (for CAIRO & environs) Each day trip was a full day, and returned to our ship ON TIME without any issues. -- We traveled all day in comfort with well informed driver and guide; both were courteous and friendly and looked out for our group at all times. In Luxor, we had lunch at a local waterfront restaurant and took a Feluca ride on the Nile; We had extremely limited time, and Memphis Tours did not waste any of it; they were early to pick us up at the ship's side, and we did not miss a thing. FANTASTIC !! Will use them next year when we tour Egypt again.

“Excellent shore excursions with Memphis Tours”
Mensovw, 3/28/10
We booked a cruise with Costa in February 2010 with Aqaba in Jordan as one of the destinations. As soon as we were able to book the tours via Costa we found out that the excursion to Petra was sold out. This was the reason for us to search the internet for an other option to get there. Memphis was quickly found via google. Within a few hours after my request Hamdy Emery (tour consultant) replied with a tour initerary.
Beacuse of the prompt reply and professionalism we decided to book all the shore excursions in Egypt and Jordan with Memphis instead of Costa. Good choice! The tours we did:

1) Day trip to Pyramids & Citadel from Port Said
2) Day trip to St. Catherine Monastery from Sharm el Sheikh
3) Day trip to Petra from Aqaba (Jordan)
4) Day trip to Luxor from Safaga

Please note that the above tours are almost the same price as the cruiseline will charge you but you will get a lot more value! A private air-conditioned van, driver, guide and Egyptologist just for your party.
For all cruise passengers I can certainly recommend Memphis Tours for the shore excursions in Egypt and Jordan!

Thanks goes out to Hamdy and all guides involved!
