We leave the local port towards Alicia Island, where we will observe a colony of sea lions with one hair. Then we bow to the Isla de los Pájaros, where the colonies of royal and imperial cormorants live next to their nests, being able to spot their chicks from spring to autumn.
Again we set course east to another small island that, according to the time of the year, there are two-haired sea lions. Very close is the Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse, an authentic symbol of the city of Ushuaia, built in 1919. From there we spot the island of rocky cormorants.

After half a day of trekking, we have a good idea of the peculiarities of this unique ecosystem.
The park is furrowed by mountainous cords that divide it into valleys of very difficult access. Unlike other Patagonian Andean parks, it has forests near the sea coast, six kilometers long on the Beagle Channel. This forms the Lapataia bay, which in the Yámana language means “wooded bay” or “good wood bay”.

Is Latin America safe to visit?

Latin America is a very large continent, and there are many areas that are safe to visit. In most parts, tourists need only to exercise the caution that they would have in any vacation spot—pay attention to surroundings, wear a money belt, and avoid dark and deserted areas—to avoid becoming crime victims. The scenarios that involve tourists usually involve non-violent pick-pocketing or muggings. In South America, we recommend not to make it obvious that you’re a tourist. Try to not speak a foreign language out loud. In addition, you should keep valuable items such as your passport, camera, and your wallet in a pocket or bag in front of you. While sitting outside at a restaurant keep your things on your lap or tied to the foot of the chair.

Which languages are spoken in Latin America?

Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Uruguay, Colombia and Mexico: Spanish speakers.
Brazil: Portuguese
You will find most of the workers in tourism speak English and at least a third language.

Is it a common practice to give tips in Latin America?

Tipping is essentially a norm in bars, coffee shops, and restaurants. It’s recommended to tip chauffeurs and guides during transfers and paid excursions. In these cases, we suggest calculating the amount according to how satisfied you have been with the service.

What is the official currency in Latin America?

The currency changes depending on the country:
Argentina: Argentinean Peso (ARS)
Brazil: Brazilian Real (BRL)
Chile: Chilean Peso (CLP)
Uruguay: Uruguayan Peso (UYU)
Bolivia: Boliviano (BOB)
Peru: Sol Peruano (PEN)
Colombia: Colombian Peso (COP)
Guatemala: Quetzal (GTQ)
México: Mexican peso (MXN)

Each currency is only useful for its respective country. It is not possible to use the currency of one country in another.

Do I need a visa to enter Latin American Countries?

It depends on your country of origin and the country you want to visit. It is necessary to check with your migration department.
