Alexandria Library was built as a commemorating of the library that was built in the days of the Pharaohs & it was burnt in the days of Julius Caesar in a war between Julius Caesar & Antonio.

Library architecture

The library outside seems to be a solar disk; its design comprises a simple circle inclined towards the sea and partly submerged in a pool of water. The inclined roof allows for viewing the Mediterranean continuously. The building is surrounded by a wall clad with granite engraved with calligraphy and inscriptions representative of the world's civilizations.

The library's architecture is equally striking. The main reading room stands beneath a 32-meter-high glass-panelled roof, tilted out toward the sea like a sundial, and measuring some 160 m in diameter. The walls are of gray Aswan granite, carved with characters from 120 different human scripts.
