Ramesses II

Dynasty:

King Ramses II was the most famous king in the 19th Dynasty. He ruled Egypt for about 67 years.


History:

King Rameses II was about 25 years old when he ascended the throne. He completed his father's , Seti I , acheivments in order to settle on the throne. One of the most famous events happened during his reign is the battle of Kadesh which he led againest Hitites. He led also some other campaigns on palastine. King Rameses had so many wives and mistresses, the most important among them were Nefertiti , Ist Nfrt , Maat Neferw Raa , and the Hitite princess. He had also a large number of children, about 150, one of them was Merenptah who succeeded him on the throne.


Monuments :

Although king Rameses II was a great worrier, he was also defined as the master of builders,as he built many parts of the Karnak Temple , the exterior part of Luxor Temple , the Ramesseum temple , Abydos Temple , as well as many Temples in Nubia among them was the temples of Abusimbel .
