Pyramid of Mykerinus

Location:
Giza - 9 miles from downtown Cairo .

Who built it?
It was built by Mykerinus who ascended the throne after the death of his father Cherfen . This king ruled for 21 years and others say it was extended to 28years.

Why was it built?
This pyramid was built as the ancient Egyptians believe in resurrection. Mykerinus was buried in this pyramid according to the ancient Egyptian concept of life after death.

Explanation:

This pyramid was excavated in 1839 BC. Its plan is smaller than the two others pyramids in Giza area, its height is 216 feet . This pyramid was cased with a layer of granite and not white limestone like his predecessors.
It should be mention that The three pyramids of Giza are surrounded by small pyramids and Mastaba tombs that belong to the royal family, nobles and high ranking people.
