Dynasty:

King Pepi I was one of the kings of the 6th dynasty . He ruled the country after a short period of instability.

History:

He ruled for about 25 years in which the country flourished in all fields. He married the daughter of the prince of Abydos and she gave birth to his successor Mry n re . He married also his sister who gave birth to king Pepi III who ruled the country after his brother. King Pepi I sent a campaign to palatine against the Asiatics.

The 20 years accorded to him in the Turin King-list is too low and perhaps the result of a mistake of the composer or copyist of the king-list, or of a bad restoration by more recent scientists. The highest recorded year is the year after the 25th counting. If the countings occurred every 2 years, the year after the 25th counting would be the 50th year.

Monuments:

Besides his military campaigns, king Pepi I had some achievements including a temple in Bubastis , he added also some parts to the temples of Dandarah , Abydos , Elephantine as well as his pyramid complex which is situated in Saqqara nearby the temple of ptah which was called ( Mn nfr ).
