
High Institute of Ballet collaborated in formatting Cairo Opera Ballet Company in 1966 under supervision of Soviet experts.
After that Cairo Opera Ballet Company went on its success by Egyptian music composers choreographers and presented shows of contemporary ballets. One of those shows depicted the resistance of Egyptian people in the war of 1967, this show named El Somoud by Abdel Moneim Kamel. The following shows were Isis and Osiris by Gamal Abdel Rahim in 1984 to depict the victory of 6th October 1973, Egyptian Steps by Attia Sharara, The Temple Music by Entesar Abd El Fatah and choreography by Youssri Selim. Also Omar Khairat presented El Nile. The Lebanese choreographer Walid Aouni directed the show of ?Rhythm of Generations and Three Nights with Sphinxr? in 1990-1991. Cairo Opera Ballet Company made more regular tours abroad to the former USSR and then to Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, Germany, France and Tunis. Later Cairo Opera Ballet Company submitted officially to the New National Cultural Centre with the artistic director Dr. Abdel Moneim Kamel. Cairo Opera Ballet Company consists of 25 Egyptian dancers then 15 Russian dancers joined it. It is expected that the number will increase to 55 within the next years. Cairo Opera Ballet Company added to its success more brilliance through presented two full - lengths ballets: Romeo & Juliet and Don Quixote. In short Cairo Opera Ballet Company played a vital role in Cairo Opera House and realized great success which was added to Opera?s success. |
