
Dynasty: Hrihor was one of the first rulers of the 21st dynasty. Although he reigned Egypt, he wasn't called a king, he was a ruler.
History: After the end of the 20th dynasty, Hrihor, who was the high priest, named as the king of Egypt. He came after a period which was called the period of development which was started by Ramesses XI. Herihor's wife, Nodjmet, may have been a sister of Ramesses XI, which might gave him legitimate to ascend the throne. At the same time when Harihar as ruling in Thebes, there was another king ruling in Tanis whose name was Semendes. Although he was never called a king, he used to use the cartouches, usually reserved only for kings these can be found today within the temple of Khonsu, at Karnak.
Monuments: There were no funerary figurines, canopic jars or other fragments have ever been discovered. There is good reason to suspect, from rock graffiti, that Herihor's tomb may still remain intact somewhere in Thebes |
