The Greek Soldiers were said to be one of the most powerful and greatest troops in the world, they were serving in Military for two years, one year in the Garrison and one year in the Border Fort, they were given a sword and a shield with country's emblem on it, the army consisted of Horsemen, Hoplites and foot soldiers, who were armed by shields, swords and long spears, and they could be called at any time until they exceed 60 years old, they were well versed in the use of arms and weapons and fighting techniques.

There were some wars too between City-States were because of Harvests or Cattle, but they were making truces for limited time to attend the Olympic Games at Athens, and that truces were every four years.

The Greeks had a lot of wars against the Persians, specially Sparta, another main Greek state, but it was known of military strength, a Spartan's life doesn't mean any thing to his Country or Homeland, and that was the reason of their strength, that they doesn't fear death, all what they think about is Glory and Freedom, on the contrary, Athens was the center of Civilization, with all it's ways and evidence.
