Giza Zoo is one of the most important features in Egypt. Giza Zoo is one of the most beautiful and attractive places in the world. Giza Zoo is established on an area about 80 feddans next to Cairo University.
Giza Zoo has also a special historical value. Zoo was thought in its establish in the occasion of inauguration of Suez Canal. Khedive Ismail gave a special concern to the zoo as it is an important feature and outstanding event to Egypt in this period. The Zoo was opened for the public in 1891. The Zoo had begun by a distinguished style based on a blended Egyptian and Turkish fine arts that was represented in the mosaic pictures and highly designed technique side walks. The Zoo had also begun containing various kinds of animals and rare plants. Giza Zoo now is under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture and receive a special care and continuous developing and improvement. This developing is represented in adding various kinds of animals from all over the world and providing more amusing and entertainment devices.
Giza Zoo is a very smart gallery for the different kinds of animals that it has. You start your journey inside the Zoo walking the 80 feddans watching the animals in their houses forgetting the big distance that you cut. You also see something that is exclusive for Egypt , that these animals are in their open air houses without air conditioning because of the distinguished moderate atmosphere of Egypt.
Giza Zoo also contains a museum for some embalmed animals & birds. This museum does not only include the embalmed animals, but also it includes a gallery for various kinds of live animals and reptiles. You visit this museum to get acquainted with the amazing creatures that live in this museum.
Giza Zoo also has a prominent role in developing Veterinary medicine in Egypt. The Zoo allows the scientists who concern with the wild life and the animals to study & observe the behaviour of the animals in the Zoo. In this way the Zoo is not only amusement park, but also has a great historical & scientific value.
