Let Memphis Tours take you to explore Oman’s interior on a day trip from Muscat port. Visit Nizwa, Bahla and Jabreen in a single day.
On this tour you will discover the beauty of the interior regions of Oman and visit Nizwa, the capital of the country in the medieval ages. The oasis city of Nizwa was once the capital of Julanda Dynasty in the 6th and 7th Century AD. Today it remains a popular destination because of its historical buildings and imposing fort. Memphis Tours will pick you up in the port in Muscat and drive you 145 kilometers to Nizwa for a tour of the fort, which was built in the 17th century. The fort dominates the entire area with the town having grown around its edifice. From the top of the tower one can see all of Nizwa. From here you will proceed to the Nizwa Souq which is renowned for its intricately hand-carved Khanjar and ornately designed silver jewellery. The tour will continue toward Bahla with a brief stop at the oasis of Tanuf. In Bahla you will have a chance to admire the impressive fort, but it is in the process of being restored by UNESCO. It is the oldest Omani fort built in the Islamic style. Then you will proceed to the Jabreen Castle (45 km from Nizwa), which is considered the finest of Oman’s castles. It was built during the late 17th century when Jabreen was the center of Omani education and learning. The castle displays beautiful ceiling paintings and intricate wood carvings. You will be returned to the port by mid-afternoon.
