Your guide will pick you up at your hotel in the morning (07:30) in order to head into the desert. First, you will visit the area known as Wahiba Sands, which is famous for its huge undulating dunes. These mountains of shift red and white sand rise to over 200 meters and stretch out as far as the eye can see. There is also a variety of unique desert plants and animals that you will see as your 4x4 drives up and down through the dunes. Your guide will take you speeding across the sand to show you just how much fun the desert can be. The desert is the traditional home of nomadic bedouin, who can still be seen traveling across the sands with their camels. After a picnic lunch in the desert, you will stop by a bedouin home for tea. Afterward, you will continue to Wadi Bani Khaled to see the other vital part of life in a desert, an oasis. Wadi means ‘valley’ in Arabic and Wadi Bani Khaled hosts fresh water springs that transform the dry desert into a beautiful landscape. You will be able to explore the palm groves, relax in the cool shade next to a spring and even go for a swim. There are also traditional villages scattered throughout the oasis on the slopes of the mountains sides. There will also be a chance to ride a camel if you choose (optional). Finally, you will travel back to Muscat, arriving back at your hotel in mid-afternoon after a tour of approximately 8 hours.
