Your guide will meet you at your hotel to begin this two-day adventure in the desert. First, you will head toward Wahiba Sands in the Sharqiya region to play in the desert dunes on 4x4s. You will stop in a Bedouin home to enjoy coffee and dates, a traditional Bedouin snack, and also get a chance to try your hand on camelback (optional). A picnic lunch will be provided by your guide during the day and you will stay overnight in the Desert Bedouin Camp sleeping under the stars in a traditional bedouin tent. There are also more luxurious desert accommodations available for an extra cost. Both camps provide the unique experience of a night in the peaceful calm of the desert surrounded by golden dunes. It is the perfect way to get away from the pressures of city life. The next morning breakfast will be served in the camp and you will continue toward Wadi Beni Khalid. This valley oasis offers clear pools and a beautiful setting that stand in stark contrast to the barren beauty of the desert. After relaxing in the oasis, you will begin the trip back to Muscat through the desert. On the way you will pass through the coastal village of Sur to see a shipyard here traditional Omani fishing vessels called dhows are built. You will also visit Wadi Tiwi and Wadi Shab, which are famous for their beauty and dotted with ancient village settlements. Finally, you will stop by the Bimah Sinkhole for a swim and visit Quriyat and its 18th century fortress before returning to Muscat in the afternoon.
