I am a solo traveler . I just returned from Egypt during a turning point in its history. Memphis Tours performed magnificently in keeping my tour going during very trying times. I arrived in Cairo on 1/24/11 with no issues. On 1/25 in the afternoon while I was at the pyramids all hell was breaking loose downtown. Memphis got me through the day and safely onto the night train to Luxor . The next morning I saw no indications of reported turmoil. On 1/30 after an uneventful Nile cruise we met up again in Aswan where they were feverishly deciding whether I was going back to Luxor by car or train as previously planned. Plans changed several times during the day while I was touring. Finally they confirmed that a train with first class space was departing at 5. We drove through a demonstration ( the demonstrators politely let us through the barriers) to get me settled on the train. No issues upon arrival at Luxor except for empty streets due to a curfew and seeing a few tanks. 1/31 was one of the most stressful days in my travel experiences. After numerous calls we agreed that I would cut my trip short and leave Egypt. Under no circumstances would they send me back to Cairo via train per my earlier plan. They insisted that I go directly to Cairo Airport to make my way home to the US. While doing my tours with their great guide we recived constant calls from them about potential charters to Barcelona, Manchester, or just Cairo Airport, etc. Just as the day was ending they found one last seat on a special charter flight to Cairo. We raced back to Luxor Airport where we bought that ticket, I was expedited through security and check in, and I made it to the Cairo. They worked very hard to protect me and got me where I needed to be against all odds. I absolutely recommend Memphis. PS: my Delta flight to NY that was confirmed during the day was later cancelled so I winged it overnight and took a US State Dept evacuation charter flight to Istanbul the next day and subsequently flew home from there. Unforgettable is an understatement for these last days of this trip.
