After hearing glowing reports from other travellers regarding this tour company, I arranged my trip to upper Egypt through them. I was with a group of 4 people and so asked Memphis Tours to arrange for a guide for us. This they did but, without our knowledge, they also added two other travellers. Normally this would be OK but we were only interested in seeing temples and monuments and the other two wanted to shop. Again, without prior advice, our guide took us to a perfume factory in Aswan and then an alabaster one in Luxor. Whilst we waited, the shoppers spent nearly an hour buying alabaster and, on asking, when we found out that the guide was then going to take us to a papyrus factory, we had to insist that this stop and for him to take us to the Valley of the Kings where we thought we were going originally. After that, there were no more unscheduled visits but we found that we were hurried through all the tombs and temples by our guide. In fact, for our visit to the Karnak and Luxor temples we were only given 2 hours, most of it spent there by ourselves as the guide, after a brief explanation, went off by himself. There were numerous other problems with Memphis Tours and, altogether, it was a very unsatisfactory arrangement.
