My wife and I used Memphis Tours when we arrived in Egypt as part of a 12 night cruise back in May. For the two days we were at port in Alexandria, we decided to do a private overnight excursion which Memphis customized for us. The transaction part proved challenging between the language barrier and the online/chat problems (tried both approaches). But we finally got it nailed down. We were provided both a driver and a Egyptology expert/tour guide. We were able to see so much more and do so much much more quickly than if we were with a large group. Even something as simple as getting one's picture take was easy with our guide. And because our guide was so well educated, we were able to take away so much that will stay with us forever, making it so much more interesting when we were able to understand why one pyramid might look one way versus another, for example. As for the overnight part, I paid a bit more to get it customized so that we would have a suite facing the Pyramids at Le' Meridian. The hotel was beautiful and we saw the pyramid lit up at midnight from our balcony... truly spectacular. (be careful of the concierge in the private floor area though of the hotel... he purposely overcharged us and told us we had to pay with cash) The next day we saw the Museum of Antiquities, among other things, and then headed back to the ship. Note: Our driver was also amazing... that was the niftiest driving I have ever seen. If you have ever seen the 3 hour stretch from Alexandria to Cairo, you'll appreciate that comment.
