Da-Rolling-Stone

Booked a tour of Luxor for my wife and myself through AMEX Concierge Service-- Memphis Tours was apparently one of their "trusted" providers. AMEX agent went back and forth, ultimately negotiating a package that included specific attractions at a specific price (about $300). I received an e-mail confirmation from Memphis Tours (this was well before the trip). When we arrived at the tour office, a van was waiting. Before getting in, I reviewed the arrangement with the agent-- and the deal had changed! Fewer attractions, price over $400! I refused to get in the van, and contacted AMEX on my cell. The tour guide (Jasmine) went out of her way to work with Memphis Tours management to correct our dilemma (I wouldn't expect this from a tour guide). It helped, but surprisingly was not a determining factor, that I had a copy of the confirmation e-mail on me. After some back-and-forth, we got things straightened out and had a good experience (the wonders of Luxor do a lot to overcome the irritations of business). Jasmine was very accommodating during the tour, and when all was said and done, we actually got much more time and more stops than we had initially arranged. We ended up happy.
