I booked a 4 day private tour of the area surrounding Cairo with a side trip to Alexandria. I have been to Europe more than 40 times for business and vacation, but this was the first time in the Middle East. Let me begin by dispelling any notion you might have that this trip is in any way dangerous or intimidating. Just the opposite, from the minute I was picked up by Amad El Sayed at the airport-on time and exactly where he was supposed to be-I felt like I was in good hands. When we reached the hotel, Ahamd took the time to go to the front desk with me and would not leave until the room key was in my hand. Excellent service. Since I had flown directly from Newark, through Frankfurt, I took a day off in between to get some rest and time to explore the hotel. On the second day, at exactly 8:30 am my guide for the week. Ahmed M. Kamel appreared. From this time forth he was my constant guide as well as the same excellent driver. Ahmed proved to be a huge reservoir of information, not only on ancient Egypt, but also,Arabic culture, art, music, world affairs-you name it-he was well versed in the subject. I'm not going to bore you with blow by blow descriptions, suffice to say I was treated in an extremely courteous and mannerly stlye that made the trip a true pleasure. Memphis Tours is extremely flexible and will honor any requests that you might have to make your trip as pleasent and memorable as possible. I highly reccomend using this company. On the way home, I had a 5:30 am flight fromCairo to Frankfurt. Ahmad was right on time at 3:00 am. He had even gone the extra mile to order me a "To Go" breakfast from the hotel. At the airport, he escored we thourgh passport control and brought me directly to the departure gate. All in all, a throughly satisfying and memorable experience.
