My friend and I pre-booked half of our tours from home through Memphis Tours website because we wanted to be sure to see everything we could in our short five days there. The website gave us alot of information on each possible tour which allowed us to chose what we most wished to see and do and prebooking was easy and meant that we didn't have to scramble when we arrived to try and book everything. Our first day included a trip to Alexandria and we were met at our hotel by our tour leader Hamid (Abdo) and our driver (who did amazingly well driving in the crazy traffic). Hamid was very friendly and made us feel instantly at ease. He also helped us to arrange the tours that we did not prebook and set our schedule to best fit in everything we had planned, after some negotiating of course. He also accompanied us to the evening events we attended, the Sound and Light Show at the Pyramids and the Nile Dinner Cruise and picked us up at the airport on our return from Luxor at midnight. His dedication to his job and to seeing that we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our trip was greatly appreciated. Next we met our Egyptologist/guide Amr Yosry who not only did our tour of Alexandria, but also of Giza, Saqqara, and Memphis on one day, and the Citadel, old Cairo's churches and Mosques, and the Egyptian Museum on our last day. Amr's enthusiasm for the information he was sharing with us really made all of the history come alive and added to the sense of awe and amazement we felt as we were introduced to each new thing. He delivered the facts with not only knowledge but with a great pride in his country's past and present and taught us about some of the customs still alive in Egypt today. All of this helped to make this one of the best vacation trips I have ever taken. I would definitely recommend all of these tours and only caution anyone travelling to Cairo to be prepared for the smog and insane traffic, but even that was not enough to ruin any part of the trip. My favorite tours were definitely the ones to Giza, Memphis, and Saqqara; the Citadel, old Cairo's churches and Mosques, and the Egyptian Museum; and Luxor, especially the Valley of the Kings and Karnak. Also I recommend riding a camel it is a very unique experience which should not be missed. Thank you again to Amr and Hamid for an amazing trip!
