Me and my Mum went to Sharm-El-Sheikh and we are both into finding out the history of where we are. Many people told us back home that we should do the Luxor trip but a one day one will prove too much for my mum> I did a search on tripadvisor and read some great reviews about this company so thought I would give them a Go. I spoke to a lady called Fatma Sayed from the Cairo office online and she was extremely helpful. I told her my dates and also what I wanted to see and do. I organised my own flights and hotel as flights directly from Egyptair.com are cheaper than through an operator and I had point for free stay at a hotel so I booked that on my own. But the rest I left to Fatma to organise. I did contact other companies but they were not helpful as Memphis Tours and they were able to provide me with everything. On day one we saw Karnak Temple, Luxor Temple and Karnak Temple Lights and Sound show in the evening which is very nice and should be seen. On day two we did the Valley of Kings and Queens, Hephesphut Temple and also had a Falucca Bost trip booked which was cancelled and we went on a motor boat instead as there was a sand storm and bad wind and Faluccas were not able to sail. I also paid the extra to see the Tutankamun Tomb and it is really worth it. So my advise is hat you don't miss this. The only part of my two days which I thought was a bit pointledd was the boat ride to Banana Island. It is a very short ride from my hotel and you are barely on the boat and banana island is only a banana farm with nothing else there. I stayed at the Sheraton on the Nile and had a nile View and I could see the farm from across the river straught over. If I had known this then I would have not bothered with the boat, but I supose we had to kill 7 hours before our flight and the trip was worth it rather than a long wait in the reception of the hotel. The lunch provided on both days was of a high standard at a small restaurant called Bon Appetit, and very tasty. It was proper egyptian food. If you do use memphis in Luxor ask them to take you to this restaurant. And the whole tour was a VIP tour with just me and my mum so we went at our pace. Just one tip though, the drivers of the vehicle keep changing and you are expected to tip each one. Its up to you but my sugestion is that you make it clear to the egyptologist/guide that you will only tip one driver or you will tip them for the whole trip at the end and they can all share it out between them as if you pay as you go you will end up paying a fortune in tips as the people keep changing. Not sure whether this is deliberate or not, but bear my tip in mind. The guide/egyptologist we had was Shaima and she was extremely great and very informatiove. She was very knowledgeable and a wonderful host. Basically to finish I would definately recommend the trip iver two days and it also gives you a chance to relax as even in their winter months the heat tires yu out. Well recommended and we had a superb time. Very memorable.
