We loved our stay at the Winter Palace. Yousri was an earnest and helpful young man who accompanied us the whole time. A surprise from Memphis was a silver cartouche for me but which, much to Yousri's embarrassment, spelled out "Mr. Karl". They presented me with another one the next day which spelled out "Diana". They're very nice. Another amazing thing about the Winter Palace was the food, absolutely delicious.
For my birthday dinner I had roast lamb, rare. It not only was rare but succulent and tender. Karl's fish wasn't quite as good but certainly was beautifully presented. The next morning his coffee was cafe presse and much better than my cappuccino and his pancakes were even better than the Swedish pancakes in the ship's Grand Dining Room!
