We have just experienced a faultless 14 day tour commencing in Cairo 27th December 2011. We travelled from Cairo by train to Aswan, a cruise on the Nile to Luxor. We then flew to Sharm El Shiekh and onward to Petra and Am

Amman. All the tour guides and drivers arranged by Memphis were outstanding. Everything was thought of and they went out of Mengjie night tour of Luxor by carriage holds a special attraction. Driving through the market and experience market life up close was amazing.

Likewise Petra was magical, the Treasury, the Monsatry and the Petra by Candlelight Tour. Mount Musa and the view Moses had of the Prmised Land was very special.

We stayed in 4 star hotels in most cities - and 5 in 2 cities. All a wonderful experience and costed less than I would have expected

For me the downside was the Israeli border between Egypt and Jordan - they made the officious Custom's Officials at Heathrow appear polite and civil.

We would have no hesitation in recommending Memphis Tours and Egypt to anyone. Safe and enjoyable. While there has been a resolution it is only perpetuated in the minds of the worlds press. At no stage no matter where we were with or without a guide did we feel unsafe . It was the Middle East which we read so often about. Jordan was almost tourist free - whole safe for many the closeness to Syria is seen as a threat. On the day we visited Petra the numbers were c1200 and normaly they have c6000 in January and in summer significantly more.

I am so glad we travelled December and January - while cooler it was more manageable than the heat of summer.
