Our recent trip to Egypt was, for us, the holiday of a lifetime.

On our daughters reccommendation we chose Memphis Tours to organise everything and gave them a list of places we wanted to visit.

Bassem Saad got in touch with an itinerary that suited our needs and a price that suited our pockets.

We later met Bassem in Cairo and he was a charming young man who had moved mountains to ensure that our friends could join us as a surprise.

In Cairo we were escorted by Egyptologist Omar to the Pyramids and the Egyptian Museum.Omar was extremely knowledgeable and had a wonderfully polite and protective manner. It was a pleasure to spend time in his care and company while we saw the sights, did some shopping and had decicious lunches.

We spent four days on board the Beau Soleil Nile Cruiser and loved everything about it, from the friendly staff to the excellent food and not forgetting the fun galabaya night when we all dressed up and danced into the night.

Our guide on board was the larger than life Dr.Salem who had a great sense of fun and was an expert in his field.

Our trips to Karnak and Luxor Temples,Valleys of Kings and Queens, Kom Ombu, Edfu and Philae were illuminated by his interest and knowledge. He took good care of us and on his advice we undertook two extra tours.

Our hot air balloon trip over the valley of the kings was magical and highly recommended and our evening sail to the Nubian village well worthwhile if only for experiencing the peace and beauty of the magestic Nile at sunset.

Dr.Salem very kindly took us to visit his family who were wonderfully warm and welcoming and we enjoyed a delicious cake baked freshly by his Mum. A little look at Egyptian life and hospitality which left a lasting memory and for which we are very thankful.

I must mention here that we opted to fly to Luxor and back from Aswan. This also was on our daughters advice as she took the overnight train and found it very tiring.

There was never a dull moment with our tour leader in Cairo, Osama Mostafa.

The Cairo by night tour in his company was simply unforgettable. . . . dancing on a felluca between the bridges, eating Kosheri with the locals, viewing the sights of Cairo from the tower and experiencing the bustle and magic of Khan al-Khalili.

By the time he dropped us off at the airport we felt we had done it all!

Thank you Osama, thank you Dr.Salem, thank you Omar, thanks too to all our drivers (especially party boy Osama 2) and a special warm thank you to Bassem for making it all happen.

If you have any worries about visiting Egypt take our advice and leave your trip in the expert hands of Memphis Tours. They will take really good care of you.
