We found Memphis Tours surfing on line, including some good reviews from Trip Advisor.

We decided to book a 10 day guided trip (from 12/19 - 12/29) which included a 4 night cruise from Aswan to Luxor, plus private guided tours and time in Cairo. We really knew very little about an Egypt Tour (what were the best hotels, cruise line, itinerary) other than wanting to see the pyramids. We took a chance and put ourselves in the hands of Mohamed Mokhtar, our contact with Memphis tours. He set up a planned itinerary which used Sonnesta Cruise Lines and The Marriott Cairo Hotel. I can't tell you how happy we were with both choices. We were on Sonnesta's Moon Godess ship, which had all balcony rooms, very nicely furnished, with the best of service. I did have my reservations about the Marriott, but it really did turn out to be a 5 star hotel and was located in one of the few areas of Cairo where my wife and daughters could go out for a walk on their own and feel totally comfortable and safe.

All of Mohamed Mokhtar choices were excellent. However, as nice as the accommodations were, the trip comes down to being as good as the tour guides are. In this case, I feel we lucked out both times. In Cairo and at all the stops on the cruise. The guides were very knowledgeable, professional and quite friendly.

We truly left Egypt with an understanding of their history and more importantly, finding out how nice the Egyptians are today!!!
