Great experience with the planning of our trip
Nicole, 2/20/12
Despite the turmoil going on in Egypt, we decided to go anyway - the country can probably use all the tourists that can get right now! We first began working with Mohamed and then Mawra Samir. Both have been so helpful and accommodating - we gave them a list of places we wanted to see, even some hard to get to spots like Dendera, and they were able to design an amazing tour of Egypt and Jordan for us that was very reasonably priced. We will be traveling at the end of June 2012 and I'm confident that if the service we have received so far from Mephis Tours is any indication, our trip will be incredible!

unmistakable vacation
myoeminn, 2/19/12
We have been reluctant to go to Egypt & Jordan in 2011 but finally we could not wait anymore and made it happen with Memphis tour since all USA tours keep cancelling for security reasons. We are really glad we made it finally. It was amazing trip to witness first civilized area of human beings. Cairo and all tourist attraction areas are safe and secure. Our first credit goes to Manager Mr Mohammed Fayez, who arranged everything in detail as American way and made them happen without a glitch. Although I never met him in person, my appreciations for him is enormous. Memphis tour guides from Cairo, Mohammed Baseer, and Ahmed Hussein from Sham-El Sheikh, are very good and punctual. Local guide Ms Maha was perfect and friendly Driver Ahmed is unforgettable. Raed from Amman is good too.
Other than experiencing and witnessing fantastic & unbelievable monuments and structures of Great Egypt, and friendly Jordan, we are very happy to meet a lot of new people from different world and became friends.
Whoever thinking of visiting Middle East, Memphis tour should be the first place to check with since it can find right length of stay, reasonable cost and fulfill all you need. I could now recommend to all my friends and colleagues to visit Egypt, Jordan and Israel with Memphis tour and not to worry about anything else.

It was absolutly brilliant; a holiday of a lifetime - I would recommend this company to anyone
Lester Bath, 2/6/12
My daughter and I visited both Egypt and Jordan, and Memphis Tours amended the trip to take in sites she particularly wanted to visit. Any company can score well when everything goes all right but Memphis were brilliant when things went wrong on a couple of oocasions; finding a room for me for an afternoon when I was not well (free of charge) and upgrading us at no cost when we were unhappy with one hotel. Both the tour reps and the guides were excellent. Both of us agree we would certainly use them again and I have already recommeded them to a couple of people who are thinking of holidaying in Egypt.

Three Weeks in Egypt & Petra arranged by Memphis Tours
RodgerJacobsen, 6/3/11

I am remiss in not writing this review sooner. Memphis tours did a good job and that was largely due to the efforts Ahmed Shalpy who worked as hard as he could to make us happy. And he did work hard because we took advantage of the flexible part of the tour which meant we could design the trip to our specifications. This actually meant reshaping the standard tour to our needs.

This was a three week trip for three, ending January 5th 2011, just before all the unrest and uprising. The plan was to sail up up and down the Nile with a visit to Abu Simbal at the lowest point and visit all the usual wonders along the Nile. They were truly wonderful, awesome is a good description. Next we flew to Sharm with a day of rest at a nice resort on the dead sea, and on to Petra in Jordan.

On the cruise ship a Dutch Family heard we were going to camp on the black desert, they had done it and didn’t recommend it, showed us pictures, not what we expected so we phoned Ahmed Shalpy and asked for a free day in Cairo instead. This brought us an unforeseen problems. We were staying at the Movenpik Hotel in Giza and there is not much to do there, Giza has the pyramids and that’s about it. This change had other results, we were crunched for time and had only ninety minutes at Karnak in a crowd of thousands. This was too bad because Karnak is truly one of the wonders of the world.
I don’t blame Memphis tours for this, it a hazard of visiting Egypt during high season.
Sayed was our guide on the Nile, he was charming and good looking, the women loved him. I would have liked him better if there could have been an exchange of conversation
about the relics we were visiting, but he seemed to think asking questions was not part of the arrangement. He wanted to deliver his lecture at a given place with no give and take. My wife disagrees with me and found it easy to to talk with him. He worked really hard to make everyone happy. For most of the trip we had our own guides except on the Nile when were included with a group of fourteen Indians who were now living in the US. They were great fun and very knowledgeable, a great addition to our trip. A real treat.

We went back to Cairo to fly to Sharm, the problem here is the schedule got so crunched we didn’t see Abydos ... a real loss, again I wouldn’t really blame Memphis Tours and Ahmed, our flexibility complicated the trip so much it was hard to fit all the parts of it into a perfect itinerary.

We spent one day at Dahab, the second five star hotel on the trip. Next day a ferry to Amman in Jordan to visit Petra for a couple of days. It was wonderful, we also found the Hotel Edom to our taste, the only sort of place where you meet backpackers from Australia.

The drive across the Sinai was long and we liked it. Back in the Movenpik Hotel in Gaza our time had expired so we were allowed to take the optional trip the Alexandria,
a waste of time in my opinion.

Bottom line: I liked Memphis Tours and would recommend it, there was alway a guide or someone to help us and they spoke good English, most of them knew their stuff. It was an excellent value. We worried before we left that this outfit might be inferior to the more expensive outfits based in the U.S. or Australia, this was not the case, it was just fine.

Ahmed Shalpy was terrific, he worked overtime to give us the trip we wanted.
If I went back I would now know to skip the Black Desert Camping and Alexandria and use that time in Luxor.

“ExEscellent service and flexibility for a safe and hassle-free vacation”
Ic Carol, 1/9/11
We recently returned from a two-week tour in Egypt and Jordan that we booked with Mr. Mohammed Amer of Memphis Tours. From the day we began planning this trip about half a year ago to the day we returned from our trip, we have had only positive experiences with Memphis Tours.

From the get go, Mr. Amer was incredibly helpful in assisting us plan a vacation that would work with our schedule and budget, and include all the sights and activities on our list. He was patient and accommodating, and every bit of our two weeks was put to good use -- not a minute was wasted idling or waiting, but the itinerary didn't feel rushed either. With two weeks for our vacation, we had a very lengthy list of sights and activities, some of which were a bit more unusual and demanding than what most travellers to Egypt ask for, but Mr. Amer went above and beyond all of our expectations and even included lots of extras to ensure that our trip would be smooth and comfortable.

Memphis Tours's ground staff in Egypt was just as good at implementing the itinerary for our private tour as Mr. Amer was at planning it. The company's liaisons and operators at each of the stops were always courteous and prompt and always made us feel like we had people to count on wherever we went, our guides were very helpful and knowledgeable, and our drivers were professional and hard-working. No one tried to take us on shopping detours or pressure us into anything as we've encountered in some other places in the past, and even during the tour itself our guides and operators were accommodating with changes and requests.

Overall, our vacation with Memphis Tours was one of the best vacations we've ever taken, and Memphis Tours certainly is the best travel company that we have ever dealt with. We have fond memories of two great weeks in Egypt and Jordan, and highly recommend Mr. Amer and Memphis Tours to anyone who is thinking about taking a vacation in Egypt.
